Pep Guardiola is in pole position to win his third consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City. Guardiola‘s side hadn’t been in the best of form at the start of the season. However, with the season nearing its business end, Manchester City has shown its mettle once again as they continue their hunt for their 7th Premier League title.
For Pep Guardiola, last week’s game against Arsenal was a vital game in deciding the Premier League winners. Guardiola’s men showed complete dominance over the league leaders with a compelling 4-1 victory. After today’s victory against Fulham, Manchester City managed to be top of the league once again as they now lead Arsenal by 1 point.
Before today’s game, Pep Guardiola was asked about the legacy he will leave at Manchester City. To which, Guardiola gave a rather grave answer. He said, “My concern is to live the moments and now it’s Fulham. The rest doesn’t matter. In life, when it’s gone, it’s gone. When you pass away, you pass away and they remember you, your close family for a few days, and after it’s gone. It’s true, don’t laugh.”
The former Barcelona manager continued, “The nicest things are what you leave and I don’t want to leave history.” Since the Premier League era started in 1992, only Manchester United have won three titles in a row ( via The Sporting News). However, Pep Guardiola can attempt to replicate the feat if Manchester City manages to win the league this season.
Can Pep Guardiola lead Manchester City to UCL glory?
The Premier League isn’t the only title that Pep Guardiola is hoping to win this season. Guardiola’s side is already in the FA Cup final where they will be facing their bitter rivals Manchester United. However, the one elusive title that Guardiola and Manchester City desire to win is the UEFA Champions League. Despite their recent domestic success, City has never managed to win the major European silverware.
The closest Manchester City came to winning it was back in 2021 when they lost to Chelsea in the final. This season, Manchester City is once again in the semifinals of the Champions League where they will be facing Real Madrid. The two sides met each other last year at the same stage in the same competition when Real Madrid snatched a miraculous late victory.
Erling Haaland equals the record for the most Premier League goals (34) in a single season after 32 games. 👽🇳🇴
Haaland moves level with Andrew Cole (93/94) and Alan Shearer (94/95) – and they had 42 games to do it in.

However, this year, Manchester City has a lethal weapon in their arsenal in the form of Erling Haaland. Haaland is the leading scorer in the Champions League this season with 12 goals. He has been in destructive form for the entirety of the season. While Manchester City will be hoping that Haaland continues to emulate his form, Real Madrid will be worrying about how to stop the Norwegian goal machine.
