Lionel Messi is leaving no stone unturned in telling fans how awful his experience at PSG was! Messi, who left PSG in June this year, decided against staying at the club and signed with Inter Miami. The Argentine ace now appears much happier in Miami than he was in Paris. However, in his recent interview, Messi has again taken a swipe at the French club.
Lionel Messi recently appeared in an interview with the Argentine journalist Migue Granados. He talked at length about various aspects, including his time at PSG. The Inter Miami skipper pointed out how his relationship with the PSG supporters turned sour after the World Cup 2022. He said, “I was the only player from our Argentina team who did not have recognition as a world champion from his club [PSG].”

Following the World Cup final where Messi’s Argentina defeated France, the Argentine star barely got recognized by PSG. While most of his compatriots were given a standing ovation at their respective home stadiums of their clubs, Messi merely got memento at the club’s training grounds. However, Messi won’t be bothered much about his former club’s gesture, having lifted the World Cup trophy.
Although this hasn’t been the first instance that Messi has taken a dig at PSG. He recently admitted how playing for the Ligue 1 giants nearly made him lose his love for soccer. Messi’s former PSG and FC Barcelona teammate Neymar Jr., who left the French club for Al-Hilal this year, also stated how the ex-Barca duo had to endure hell at the Parisian club.
Lionel Messi has no love left for PSG fans
During the interview, Lionel Messi also talked about how he felt disassociated with the PSG fans following Argentina’s World Cup triumph. Messi’s torrid time at the French capital was further aggravated by the constant hate he received from the PSG Ultras. The fans frequently used to boo and whistle at the former PSG number 30, and even staged a protest outside the club’s training grounds demanding his departure.
Speaking to Granados, Messi said that he understood the reason behind the fans’ harsh reaction. He said, “It’s understandable. I was in the team we won the final against, it was our fault that they had not been world champions again.” Moreover, Messi’s Argentine teammate Emi Martinez had also brutally mocked PSG’s talisman Kylian Mbappe after the World Cup final.

Lionel Messi had also called PSG a small club during his first press conference as an Inter Miami player. However, despite the bitter memories, the 36-year-old is now enjoying his time in Miami. Messi has been on terrific form for his new club. He recently guided his side to their first-ever trophy by winning the Leagues Cup final. He can win a second trophy with Inter Miami next week at the US Open Cup final against Houston Dynamo.
