Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has embedded some appreciative statements in his biography about one of the players he managed in his career. The 81-year-old has heaped praises on former United number seven Cristiano Ronaldo while mentioning the saga of the Portuguese’s transfer to La Liga club Real Madrid.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said – “Cristiano was the most gifted player I managed”. The manager further hinted that Cristiano Ronaldo stands alone from all the other great players he had worked with at the Red Devils. Sir Alex inflicted that only a few former United players could be placed at the level of Portugal’s number seven.

Sir Alex stated that those players are Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, as they were a special part of Manchester United for over two decades.

The 81-year-old also expressed the reason behind Real Madrid was ready to pay close to $97.5 Million for CR7. He says – “It was a way for Florentino Perez, their (Real Madrid) President, to say the world, ‘We are Real Madrid, we are the biggest of the lot’.”

The former Manchester United manager further claims that he told CR7 that he couldn’t join Real Madrid. Sir Alex has also expressed his unhappiness with the way Ramon Calderon (President before Perez) managed the whole transfer situation. The 81-year-old stated to Ronaldo that – “I would rather sh*t you, than sell you to that guy now”.

Alex Ferguson did everything to compel the Portuguese to stay at Old Trafford for at least one more season. According to the veteran, he was successful in his attempt to do so. He further expressed to CR7 that, he was not letting him go because of Ramon Calderon. Sir Alex said to Ronaldo – “If I do that, my honor’s gone, everything’s gone”.

Sir Alex Ferguson has managed the Red Devils in a staggering 1457 matches. He was in charge of the club for a period of over 25 years. He boosted a brilliant tally of 13 Premier League trophies with Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that CR7 can turn the fortunes of any team he plays for. He said – “Ronaldo could play for Millwall, Queens Park Rangers, anyone, and score a hat-trick”. The former manager further praised the Portuguese’s ability to play with both feet.

He also lauded the number seven’s speed and aerial ability. While praising CR7’s ability to play for any team, Sir Alex Ferguson even mentioned Lionel Messi. He inflicted that, he does not believe that Lionel Messi could replicate the same.
