SUMMARY
- Cole Palmer's side Chelsea recently faced Everton for a Premier League Match.
- During the match all eyes were on Palmer, who gave a stunning performance with a hattrick and a penalty goal.
It was a stunning performance from Chelsea as Cole Palmer scored a sensational poker during their 6-0 win against Everton. In what has been a difficult season for Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino’s team are currently languishing in ninth place on the league table. However, Pochettino’s men appeared to forget their season-long blues after an emphatic victory against Everton.
Cole Palmer’s performance was undoubtedly the talking point of the game as Chelsea took on Everton. Palmer’s arrival to Chelsea from Manchester City has been unarguably the signing of the season. The 21-year-old Englishman made mincemeat of Everton as he managed to get his hat trick even before the clock struck the half-hour mark.

Despite being heavily trolled at the beginning of the season by fans for being let go by Manchester City, Cole Palmer has proved his critics wrong. Palmer’s four-goal display against Everton was his second hat trick in the Premier League, with his first one coming just a couple of weeks earlier during Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Manchester United.

▪️Cole Palmer – 2

Interestingly, despite playing in England’s top-flight soccer league for just two seasons, Palmer already has more hat tricks than the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka. While Rashford made his league debut for United back in 2016 and Saka made his league debut for Arsenal in 2019, the England duo are yet to score their first-ever hat trick in the Premier League despite playing for a total of a combined 14 seasons.
Mauricio Pochettino sets the record straight on Cole Palmer as Chelsea’s penalty taker
While Cole Palmer‘s four goals stole the headlines following Chelsea‘s 6-0 win against Everton, a lot of attention went towards the events leading up to the former’s fourth goal. In the 64th minute, Chelsea was awarded a penalty and forward Noni Madueke headed toward the spot with the ball under his arm intending to take the resulting penalty kick.
Madueke, Palmer and Jackson all needed that penalty against Everton for different reasons. Shout out to Conor Gallagher for being a leader.
Chelsea fans should be excited. They have a young hungry team filled with Fearless Energy Drink. Better Days ❤️🔥

However, Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson arrived at the scene and tried to take the ball away from Madueke. Tensions further heightened when Palmer, who has been Chelsea’s regular penalty taker this season, joined Madueke and Jackson as the Chelsea trio argued over who should take the spot kick. Thankfully, skipper Conor Gallagher intervened and handed the ball to Palmer, who made no mistake from the spot.
🔵 Pochettino: “Discipline is the most important thing in our team and the offensive players need to show they are hungry to score goals, but this type of situation I am not going to accept”.

Following the match, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino rebuked his players’ behavior and admitted that the entire incident was a “shame.” Pochettino added, “The players know, the staff know, the club know that the penalty taker is Cole Palmer. All that happened after is a shame.” The former PSG coach also apologized to the supporters and firmly reiterated that he won’t tolerate this kind of behavior in the future.
Cole Palmer challenges his former teammate for the Golden Boot
In the meantime, the race for the 2023-24 Premier League Golden Boot has heated up as Erling Haaland risks losing his crown. Last season, Haaland won the Golden Boot award obliterating almost every Premier League goal scoring record. The City forward scored 36 goals last season and broke the record for most goals scored by a player in a single season in the Premier League.
While Haaland‘s goalscoring form has hit a slight dip this season, the Norwegian forward continues to lead the charts with 20 goals. However, Haaland might have to relinquish his Golden Boot prize to his former City teammate and current Chelsea star Cole Palmer. Following his performance against Everton, Cole Palmer has now joined Erling Haaland at the top of the goalscoring charts with both players scoring 20 league goals each.
