If there’s one soccer club that always seems to get caught in controversy, it’s PSG. Despite PSG’s success over the last decade, the club has found itself in hot waters now and then. Most recently, PSG’s new coach, Luis Enrique, has reportedly become unimpressed with his team’s unprofessional habits.
According to reports from Sports Zone, Luis Enrique recently caught one of his players smoking a cigarette during the club’s pre-season tour in Japan. While the reports don’t name the player, other news agencies have confirmed that the player was none other than Marco Veratti.

A PSG supporter recently caught Marco Veratti red-handed smoking a cigarette. Moreover, the fan even asked the Italian midfielder to hide his cigarettes from the next time. Moreover, Veratti’s habits might have directly led to his exit from the club just a few days ago. However, this wasn’t the first instance where Veratti has grabbed the headlines with his unprofessional antics.
Marco Veratti has been frequently spotted drinking, partying, and smoking cigarettes. However, this incident has led to fans expressing their support for ex-PSG player Neymar Jr. who was also often accused of being unprofessional. Neymar, who recently left PSG for Al-Hilal, had been a controversial figure during his six-year stint at the French club. Following this incident, one fan even wrote, “But Neymar was Unprofessional?“
Here are some reactions from fans:
Despite Neymar’s record-breaking transfer to the Ligue 1 giants, he failed to live up to expectations. With frequent injury problems, reports of indiscipline, and a sour relationship with the club’s supporters, Neymar’s memories at PSG have been bittersweet. For now, Luis Enrique needs to sort out the issues with his team, with the Champions League fixtures coming up soon.
Italian legend called PSG “the natural home of undisciplined players”
Meanwhile, Italian legend Paolo Di Canio launched a scathing criticism of PSG way back in 2019. Di Canio, who himself has remained a controversial figure due to his political beliefs, called Kylian Mbappe‘s club “the natural home of undisciplined players.” Di Canio made the remark when the Parisian club bought Argentine star Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan.
Over the last few years, PSG has struggled to cope with and control the unprofessional behavior of its players. The club has come at odds with several of its players, including Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. Messi, who joined PSG from Inter Miami this year, has criticized the club on several occasions. Moreover, Neymar also stated that he and Messi went through hell during their time at the club.
