There are only a handful of clubs in Europe that are having a worse season off and on the field than Manchester United. The English club is off to their worst start in 61 years in the Premier League, they are currently bottom of their UCL group, and now a summer signing is set to be replaced in January.
Sofyan Amrabat has failed to live up to his expectations since moving to Manchester United in the summer on a loan deal. The recruitment team of the English club has already lined up potential replacements for the Moroccan international.
The midfielder has only started four games for Manchester United this season and has played only 18 minutes for the English club in the Premier League in November. He has failed to nail down a starting place in Erik ten Hag’s side. Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo have been preferred over the Moroccan in recent few weeks during the absence of Casemiro.

As per The Guardian, the recruitment team of the English club has lost faith in the abilities of the midfielder as they look to bring in another midfielder to strengthen the midfield. No names are being reported at the moment that can replace Amrabat but his loan move will not be terminated in January.
Manchester United fans are puzzled by the decision as they feel that Moroccan has not given enough chance to prove himself. Comments like “But he chased Mbappe,” “The recruitment team at United is so so bad. They for sure need a new Sporting Director,” “Have they given Amrabat a chance even“? “They indeed wasted their money,” echoed the mixed sentiments of the fans.
Jim Ratcliffe demands answers from the recruitment team of Manchester United
The loan deal of Amrabat will not go down well with Sir Jim Ratcliffe as he prepares to buy a 25% stake at the English club. The British billionaire is set to take charge of the day-to-day operations at the English club and has already influenced some big changes at the top level of the club.
Earlier reports revealed that Ratcliffe was already dissatisfied with the performances of the recruitment and scouting team since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club. Manchester United has spent around $1.7 billion on transfers since Ferguson left the club and has failed to win any Premier League and UCL titles.

Players such as Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Ángel Di María, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial can be considered the biggest flops in this time period. These high-value signings have failed to reach their potential due to numerous reasons, but the ultimate pressure has been added to the scouting and recruitment team.
Amrabat’s loan deal is another red mark for the recruitment team of the English which has been under immense pressure in the last decade due to multiple failed big-money moves. This debacle might push Ratcliffe’s patience with the recruitment team to its limit.
The January transfer window might be the last chance for the recruitment team to salvage their reputation and save them from getting replaced when Ratcliffe takes charge of the English club.
