Robert Lewandowski has had a very bittersweet time at FC Barcelona. In his debut season in the Catalan club, the Polish striker finished as the highest scorer in the domestic league and led FC Barcelona to their first La Liga title in 4 seasons.
However, the 35-year-old has come under the scrutiny of the FC Barcelona fans in the 23/24 season. So much so that, there have been rumors that the former Bayern Munich striker might be offloaded at the end of his second season.

The rumors have gained traction once again as of late after reports have arrived confirming that the Catalan team has already found their replacement. Moreover, their new transfer target already has plenty of La Liga experience having played for a decent Spanish team in the past.
Reportedly, FC Barcelona wants to sign Newcastle United player Alexander Isak in the summer of 2024, after selling Robert Lewandowski. The Swedish striker moved to England after spending three seasons with La Liga club Real Sociedad.
While Robert Lewandowski is a great goalscorer, Alex Isak has much more all-round qualities. The youngster player likes to drop deep and engage with the play more than the Polish star. Alexander Isak is also a great dribbler of the ball, as highlighted by some astonishing runs.
Moreover, Isak’s young age of 24 will give FC Barcelona plenty of time to nurture his talent. However, given FC Barcelona’s financial woes, Newcastle’s asking price of $106 million does put the deal in jeopardy.
Arsenal gives FC Barcelona tough competition in their pursuit of Alexander Isak
It also looks like FC Barcelona is not the only club in the race for the Swedish talent. Arsenal have set their sights on Alexander Isak as they prepare for a massive summer overhaul. The Sun reports that although Barca has been scouting the Swede since Christmas 2023, Arsenal might spoil its party in the last minute.

‘The Gunners‘ will be extra motivated in the summer 2024 transfer window. It looks like Arsenal might end up losing to Manchester City for the PL title for the second consecutive season, and this might force them to sign an elite striker. Their current striker Gabriel Jesus hasn’t lived up to his expectations and has been constantly injured. Along with
In such circumstances, Alex Isak might be the ideal replacement for the Brazilian striker for North London. Moreover, the Swede’s playing style will suit the fluid playing style of Arsenal perfectly.
Robert Lewandowski might head to Saudi Arabia at the end of this season
In order to buy Alexander Isak, FC Barcelona must get rid of their Polish striker as soon as possible. Isak and Lewandowski cannot play together at the Catalan club, due to its obligation to comply with the La Liga’s salary budget. Robert Lewandowski is currently on a $29 million annual salary till 2026, and the club will be able to save around $100 million in wages if Lewandowski leaves in the summer of 2024.

And this proposition might just become true, after the Saudi Premier League’s heavy interest in the Polish striker. Reportedly, the Saudi Arabian club Abha and three others have enquired about the Polish striker. FC Barcelona too is aware of the interest in the Polish striker, and won’t force him to stay. It looks like everything will now depend on Robert Lewandowski’s decision.
The former FC Bayern Munich man might just move to Saudi Arabia, and see out the last few years of his career while making good money. Or else he could pursue his one last adventure in European soccer. It would be interesting to see how Robert Lewandowski’s future unfolds.
