SUMMARY
- It does not look like Ruben Amorim will be in charge of Liverpool as previously speculated.
- However, recent reports suggest that Liverpool may be scouting a Premier League manager to replace Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool are preparing for a massive summer overhaul in the 24/25 season. ‘The Reds’ will be having a different manager at the helm since their long-term coach Jurgen Klopp will be departing in the summer of 2024.
Moreover, the club has also appointed a new CEO and Sporting Director who will guide the project at Liverpool. In terms of the managerial position, ‘The Reds’ have already made a shortlist amongst which Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim has turned out to be the favorite.
🚨🇵🇹 Rúben Amorim: “I did NOT meet Liverpool for any interview and there’s no agreement, it’s not true”.
“I’m Sporting manager, I want to win here and I didn’t meet any club. Nothing has been agreed”.

Liverpool has been heavily linked with the Portuguese manager to lead the club into a new era and try out different tactics than Jurgen Klopp. Under such circumstances, it was expected that Ruben Amorim would be the perfect replacement for the German manager at Liverpool.
However, despite the reports saying that Ruben has already signed with ‘The Reds’, the Portuguese manager has repeatedly denied any links with Liverpool. The 39-year-old said, “I did NOT meet Liverpool for any interview and there’s no agreement, it’s not true”. “I’m Sporting manager, I want to win here and I didn’t meet any club. Nothing has been agreed.”
The Portuguese manager looked pretty furious with the stories linking him with clubs from abroad, asking for it to be put to an end. Although Ruben Amorim has announced that he would leave Sporting CP at the end of the 23/24 season, Liverpool will be gutted to have not advanced in negotiations with Ruben. Moreover, the recent reports linking the Portuguese to West Ham can also dampen Liverpool’s hopes. However, talks have reportedly fallen off with the hammers.
Liverpool is interested in signing Thomas Frank from Brentford
It looks like ‘The Reds’ have already started looking for backups in case the Ruben Amorim deal doesn’t go through. Liverpool have now turned their attention towards a manager who has a lot of Premier League pedigree under his belt.
Liverpool are reportedly considering Brentford’s Thomas Frank as their new manager for the upcoming season. The Liverpool board’s interest in the Danish manager is quite concrete and would try everything to end Thomas’ 8-year-long association with ‘The Bees.’ The Liverpool hierarchy is impressed by the work that Thomas Frank has done at Brentford and might entrust him with their rebuilding process.

However, Thomas Frank is part of a Liverpool shortlist that has many names in it. The Merseyside club is also exploring its chances with the likes of Arne Slot, Roberto Di Zerbi, and, Paulo Fonseca.
Thomas Frank has been crucial to Brentford’s rise in English soccer
The Brentford manager shocked the world in 2021, by securing Brentford’s qualification to the Premier League for the following season. This was the first time in 74 years that ‘The Bees’ were going to enjoy top-tier English soccer. It was truly a historic moment that etched Thomas Frank’s name in Brentford’s history books for good.
The Danish manager then went on to provide much more stability to the English team, making them a regular participant in the Premier League. Thomas Frank converted a 2/3rd tier English side into a mid-table Premier League team in a matter of a few years, since joining as a first-team manager.
What has been more amazing about the Dane’s management, is his ability to extract maximum talent from his players. Brentford isn’t one of the highest spenders in the Premier League and operates with a modest squad. However, instead of complaining about poor backing from the board, Thomas Frank has built the core of his team around young players who don’t cost too much.

In doing so, Thomas Frank has also produced many world-class players from Brentford such as Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, etc. Thomas Frank also has impressed the Premier League with his attacking brand of soccer.
His terrific experience around nurturing talents, in addition to his ability to work under a tight budget, makes Thomas Frank an ideal candidate for Liverpool to replace Jurgen Klopp. It would be interesting to see if ‘The Reds’ make a swoop for the Danish manager in the summer.
