However, it has been stated that after the match he quickly caught a flight in order to play for Cameroon in the AFCON. His flight got delayed due to bad weather conditions. The goalkeeper then reportedly made a journey of 150 miles by car to reach the destination.

However, the player received the biggest shock when he came to know that his name wasn’t included in Cameroon’s matchday squad to face Guinea in the AFCON clash. Cameroon share points with Guinea in the AFCON clash amidst the absence of Andre Onana
Amidst the absence of their first choice goalkeeper Andre Onana in the matchday squad, Cameroon managed to register a draw in their first 2024 AFCON clash. Guinea led earlier in the match as Mohamed Bayo scored a 10 minute goal to give his team the initial advantage.

However, Cameroon fought back in the second half of the match. The country’s forward player Frank Magri netted a goal in the 51st minute of the game. His goal brought Cameroon back in the contest. However, both the teams failed to score a second goal and register a win.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw as the points were shared. Considering the tenacity of the match, any team could have gone on to win the match in the later stages. Both of them would be satisfied with getting a point at least. While Cameroon will face Senegal away from home next in their AFCON campaign, Guinea will lock horns with Gambia at home.
