Sandro Tonali is set to be banned for the gambling addiction scandal. The Italian defensive midfielder’s impressive start to the new season with Newcastle is set to be cut short as the player waits for an official statement that will confirm his suspension from the sport.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Sandro Tonali will be banned for 10 months. The involved parties are waiting for an official statement. There will be additional months of participation in the gambling rehab plan, the same as Nicoló Fagioli.
The Italian midfielder admitted recently during an investigation that he made bets on AC Milan matches during his time in Italy. He was cooperative in assisting in the investigation of the case for a hearing at the Italian Federation in Turin.

Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, claimed the player has a gambling addiction as the legal team of the player worked on a plea bargain for the player. The player first came under suspicion when the Italian federation investigated Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli for the same matter.
Fagioli was banned from the sport for seven months earlier this month. Tonali is set to follow the Italian midfielder in therapy with his 10-month ban. Tonali’s ban will rule him out for the rest of the season for Newcastle United and Euro 2024, should Italy qualify for the tournament.

Newcastle threatens AC Milan with lawsuit over the ban of Sandro Tonali
Newcastle United are prompted into action with the report of the ban. The English club is threatening the former club of the midfielder with a lawsuit. Corriere dello Sport reports that Newcastle United will for a multimillion lawsuit over the imminent ban.
The English club is furious with AC Milan for the conduct of the midfielder during his stint with Milan. Newcastle United will look to claim damages due to the non-availability of the Italian midfielder for the rest of the season.
The ban will not only hamper the current season’s performances in the League and Europe but can have a lasting impact on the club if they miss out on the Top four in the Premier League.
It’s likely Sandro Tonali will feature for Newcastle tonight but a 10-month ban has been agreed with details still being ratified.
It appears Tonali will still be able to train with the club during his suspension.

Sandro Tonali moved to Newcastle United from AC Milan in the summer for a reported fee of $74 million. The midfielder is on a huge contract with the club which earns him $8.5 million (net) per season. The English club is set to suspend the wages of the midfielder for the period of the ban.
The response from Newcastle United in the case of Tonali is the popular opposite of Juventus. The Italian club announced that they will not suspend the wages of Fagioli during the period of the ban. They also stated that they will allow him to train with the first team as he serves his seven-month ban.
Tonali’s impressive start to the season will come to an early and abrupt end. The Italian midfielder will lick his wounds in order to prepare for his rehabilitation against the betting addiction.
