English forward Mason Greenwood is set to restart his soccer career. The 21-year-old Manchester United forward has signed a season-long loan deal with La Liga club Getafe CF. Greenwood was touted for greatness from a young age, but domestic abuse charges against him have derailed his career, which he is looking to revive in Spain.
After the charges against Greenwood were dropped earlier this year, Manchester United conducted an internal investigation into the matter. After much public pushback from integrating the player back into first-team action, the club, and the player both clarified that the English forward should restart his soccer career away from Old Trafford.
Italian Serie A club Lazio and Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas were reportedly interested in Greenwood. However, Spanish side Getafe finally won the loan deal on the final day of the English summer transfer window.

Greenwood will serve for Getafe till the end of the 2023/24 season. After returning to the first division in the 2017/18 season, Azulones managed to finish in the top 10s in the first three La Liga seasons. However, in the last three seasons, they always finished in the 15th position.
Greenwood’s present contract with the English Premier League giants Man United will run until the end of the 2024/25 season. According to a report by the Sun, United will not receive any loan fee from the Spanish club but will pay the majority of the English forward’s salary.
Greenwood reportedly earned a $94,400/week wage at United. Getafe will likely take responsibility for the $31,400 of the weekly wage, while United will reportedly pay the remaining £62,900.

Mason Greenwood was a generational talent for Manchester United
Mason Greenwood joined Manchester United at the age of seven. He also grew into one of the most promising talents in the club. He had a popular nickname in the club, ‘starboy’.
In October 2018, Greenwood signed his first professional contract with the Premier League giants. He debuted for the senior United side as a substitute player on March 6, 2019, during a UEFA Champions League (UCL) match against Paris Saint Germain. At the age of 17 years and 156 days, he became the youngest-ever UCL debutant.
In his 129 appearances for the Red Devils, Greenwood scored 35 goals. He recorded 22 goals and four assists in 83 Premier League appearances. While he scored 32 goals for United before turning to 20-year-old, it was the third most goals for the Red Devils as a teenager.

At the end of the 2018/19 season, Greenwood won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award (best player in the club’s youth system).
Greenwood also appeared for various English youth teams. He served for the England U15, U17, U128 and U21 sides.
On September 5, 2020, Greenwood played his only match for the England senior team during the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League A away game against Iceland. In the 78th minute, he substituted Harry Kane.
Greenwood last played on January 22, 2022, during a home game against West Ham United. After that, he had a tough time due to some serious charges, including attempting rape and assaulting his girlfriend.
