- With City's Victory oven FC Copenhagen, they are on a 11 win streak.
Manchester City traveled to Copenhagen for their first leg of the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. There was more on stake for the English side than just acquiring a healthy lead against FC Copenhagen for the return fixture. The competition’s defending champions could have set an English record for the most consecutive wins by an English side.
They were the favorites for the tie at kickoff, and they did what was expected from them as goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva secured a 3-1 victory against the Danish side on February 13. Manchester City now holds the record for the longest streak by any English side in the history of the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City has the longest streak winning streak in the UCL
Pep Guardiola’s side is in the company of the greats as they join Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona in this category. Bayern Munich, in the 2019/2020 season, has a record of 11 successive wins, whereas Real Madrid had 10 wins in the 2014/15 season. Bayern Munich made another entry in this list with 10 wins in 2013 followed by FC Barcelona with nine wins on two occasions – 2014/15 and 2002/03.
It was the first leg of the semi-finals of the last season when Manchester City didn’t come out as a winner in a UCL tie. They secured a crucial 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid on May 10, 2023. Since then, they have secured nine wins in a row.

Pep Guardiola and his side will now set their sight on the record of Manchester United. The English side managed by Sir Alex Ferguson set a record in 2009 of 25 matches without a defeat. The streak included their UCL final victory over Chelsea in the 2007/08 season and lasted till May 2009, when they were beaten by FC Barcelona in another UCL final of the 2008/09 season.
Manchester City currently has a streak of 20 matches undefeated. The last defeat for them came against Real Madrid in the 2021/22 season in the semi-finals. The English side can match the record of their bitter rivals if they continue to win more games this season.
Rodri has 54 wins in a row for Manchester City
In this successful period of the last 12 months, one player has stood above the rest. That player is the Spanish defensive midfielder, Rodri. The 27-year-old now has 54 wins in a row with the English side in all competitions. He has 44 wins and 10 draws in the last year, which perfectly sums up his influence within the squad.

Manchester City has tasted defeat on five occasions this season in all competitions. In four of those situations, Rodri was either injured or suspended. The defeat against Arsenal in the Community Shield came in the penalty shootout. The shootout loss is counted as a draw in the personal record books.
The Spanish midfielder needs to be his best in the coming months for Manchester City if the English club wants to compete in multi-competitions. The midfielder is the second most important figure for the English side alongside Erling Haaland.
