David Beckham’s Inter Miami has been in the news since the news of Lionel Messi joining them was announced. Both David Beckham and Lionel Messi have made waves in the world of soccer with their abilities.
They have both earned millions throughout their careers. However, the question arises as to who is leading in terms of wealth between the two soccer players.
As of 2023, David Beckham’s net worth amounts to a total of around $450 million. The Englishman started his soccer career when he was 17. The player has since played for clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG, and LA Galaxy.
The player represented Pepsi, Calvin Klein, and Adidas throughout his career. He also co-owns Inter Miami and Salford City FC clubs.
Messi, on the other hand, has an eye-watering net worth of around $600 million. His net worth is bound to keep increasing as he has yet to retire. Lionel Messi is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world and was the highest-paid soccer player before Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi club Al-Nassr.
The player also has several endorsement deals. Adidas, Lay’s, Pepsi, Jacob and Co., and Mastercard are some of the player’s most notable endorsements. Furthermore, Messi is also the tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia.
Therefore, Lionel Messi without a doubt trumps David Beckham in terms of net worth as the former is still an active soccer player.
Lionel Messi is set to overtake David Beckham as the face of the MLS
David Beckham has been the face of Inter Miami and MLS for a few years now. However, it all might change with the arrival of World Cup winner Lionel Messi. Rumors of Messi joining Inter Miami started when Beckham was spotted chatting with Messi at the PSG training ground along with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.
Adidas has been MLS’s official sponsor since 1996 and is also the brand partner of 29 other clubs in the MLS. The World Cup winner has signed a lifetime deal with the German sportswear brand. Furthermore, as per reports, his new contract allows him to receive a cut of the profit that the German brand makes from the MLS this season.

According to reports, the player has also been offered the same perks as David Beckham when he joined the MLS side LA Galaxy in 2007. The perks include an option to invest in the MLS and extend the franchise. Beckham was given a similar option when he joined the MLS side, which has now manifested into Inter Miami.
Messi is expected to overtake David Beckham’s record deal. However, it is not yet known what the player’s salary is at Inter Miami but it could be assumed that he will receive a handsome amount for his move to America. On July 21, 2023, the player made his debut for the MLS side and scored a stunning free-kick! Since joining the club, Messi has played 22 matches for Inter Miami and he has registered 18 goals and 9 assists.
