SUMMARY
- Jose Mourinho is a free agent as of now and is hunting for his next opportunity.
- He has won a variety of trophies in various countries in club soccer so it might be time to shift to national team management.
Jose Mourinho is one of the most sought-after managers currently in the soccer space. Several clubs must be keeping an eye out for him as they may be looking to sack their current managers. However, Mourinho should move on to national team management now. It will prove to be an exciting new space for the Portuguese.
Mourinho has conquered club soccer. He has won all the European trophies available, he has won every trophy available in England, Spain, and Italy. His versatility and connection with players is unmatched. Mourinho enjoys a fledgling run in the cup competitions and loves having players who would die for their teams. National teams are exactly that.

There are no 30+ league games in national soccer – not that The Special One has not conquered that. But, only participating in cup competitions would be a fun experience for a Mourinho team. Moreover, in this generation where Mourinho is devoid of players with passion, he would get the best of the lot in national teams.
In his Porto and Inter Milan teams, Mourinho created players out of a passion for soccer. A lot of them did not make it big after Mourinho left the club. Since then, Mourinho has tried to adapt to the ever-changing world of soccer. But his three-year stint remained. Not to forget, his win-a-trophy-at-every-club stint also remained, except for Spurs, but as he says, he won a half-trophy at Spurs because they sacked him before a final.

National team management, at this point in his career, would be fitting. He is 61 years old. A few more years of management with an international trophy and he can retire in peace.
Which national teams could Jose Mourinho manage in the coming future?
Brazil
The biggest opportunity would be to manage Brazil. Mourinho has previously expressed an interest in managing the Brazilian national team. However, as of now, Brazil has faced embarrassment from Carlo Ancelotti as he decided to stay at Real Madrid and not take the reported Brazil job. Moreover, Dorival Junior has taken over from Fernando Diniz, who was the interim boss of the national team.

Mourinho can, however, wait it out. If things do not go Dorival’s way in the upcoming Copa America, Mourinho could be next in line.
England
England can also be on The Special One’s list. Mourinho knows England and the English players very well due to his stints at Chelsea and Manchester United. Gareth Southgate is favored by England’s top management, however, fans are not too fond of his rigid methods.

The same set of players no matter what they are doing in club soccer are called up to play for the national team. England has scores of great players in each position. They haven’t yet won a single trophy so a few changes are a must.
Portugal
Lastly, Mourinho could also wait it out with Roberto Martinez and manage his nation. Portugal have done extremely well in the Euro qualifiers but it will all depend on the main tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo will probably be playing his last international tournament this June when Portugal step out for the Euros.

However, the Portuguese have a strong set of young players ready to take over, and, under Mourinho, they will be an exciting watch.
