Most recently, Thiago Messi won his first official trophy for Inter Miami. The Argentine superstar’s eldest son plays for the club’s U-12 side. Thiago led his side to the final of the Weston Cup and won the title. Moreover, the 11-year-old even scored a goal in the final to secure the title for his side. Pictures of Thiago celebrating with his teammates have gone viral on social media platforms.
Besides Thiago Messi, Inter Miami striker Luis Suarez‘s son Benjamin Suarez was also a part of the Inter Miami side that won the Weston Cup. Like their fathers, Thiago and Benjamin also share a good relationship. However, the two young soccer stars still have a long way to go. However, it’s too early to rule out whether the two manage to replicate their fathers’ careers and score more than a combined 1300 career goals.
Thiago Messi’s stats for Inter Miami U-12 team
Despite being practically new to the side, Thiago Messi has registered some impressive stats for Inter Miami’s U-12 side. According to reports from the Spanish news agency Marca, Thiago has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in his first six games for his team. Despite joining in July 2023, Lionel Messi has had a mixed time at Inter Miami. While the former PSG forward had a sublime start, injury concerns have hampered his form. Messi has missed several of Inter Miami’s games, including the US Open Cup final. Currently, Messi has 11 goals and 5 assists in 14 appearances for Inter Miami. However, the Inter Miami skipper will be back in action for his side’s MLS season opener tonight.
Thiago Messi’s Weston Cup triumph puts Cristiano Ronaldo to shame
Meanwhile, Thiago Messi’s feats for Inter Miami’s U-12 side have even put Cristiano Ronaldo to shame. The social media platforms have been filled with memes comparing Messi’s eldest son to the former’s arch-nemesis. Several fans pointed out that Thiago has scored more goals in a final than Ronaldo. There have been comments from the fans like, “Can’t even beat a small kid.” There were also comments like, “Thiago is better than Ronaldo,” and, “Ronaldo have untill two weeks to reply on this.”

Nevertheless, keeping aside the banter, Cristiano Ronaldo did indeed recently score a goal in a final. Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr faced Al-Hilal in the Arab Club Champions Cup final back in August 2023. Ronaldo scored a brace to secure the win for Al-Nassr, including a 98-minute winner. The 39-year-old was also the top scorer of the tournament and won the Golden Boot award.
