SUMMARY
- Anthony Martial, who won the Golden Boy award in 2015, joined Manchester United in the same year and is in his ninth season with the club.
- He is set to leave the Red Devils come summer 2024.
Anthony Martial will leave Manchester United at the end of the 2023/24 season. His United stint will always be remembered as what could have been. He came in as a decorated young player. “Welcome to Manchester United, Anthony Martial!” still rings in the ears of many United fans. But that was one of the very few high points in his career in Manchester. Where could he go next? Can he revive his career?
Martial began his soccer career at Olympique Lyon in France. In 2013, he joined Monaco and made his first team debut. He played two seasons at the French club scoring 15 goals in 70 matches. The French attacker earned the Golden Boy award in 2015. In the same year, he earned a transfer to one of the biggest clubs in England.
Anthony Martial’s career at Manchester United
With Erik ten Hag stating that Martial might not be available for the rest of the season, it is safe to say the Frenchman has played his last minutes for the club. His stats for the club are underwhelming. He joined United in 2015 and famously made his debut against Liverpool. Martial sat down Martin Skrtel and scored a memorable goal in United’s win over their arch-rivals.
At the time, United was still transitioning as Sir Alex Ferguson had recently left the club. United fans expected big things from the player who had a Ballon d’Or clause in his contract. However, Martial was unfortunately an ‘on his day’ player. Moreover, his total days were further cut short due to how injury-prone he is.
Martial could’ve been the next R9 had injuries not plagued him to death. I’ve never seen a striker as talented or as good as him (young players) in my lifetime watching footy. It was absolutely ludicrous what he was able to do so casually 🥲💔 https://t.co/lMpCR5HI6U

He made a total of 317 appearances in his 9 seasons at Manchester United scoring 90 goals and assisting 48. He even spent a few months on loan to Sevilla where he made 11 appearances and scored one goal.
Martial injured again. Never seen anything like it

By the end of his Manchester United stint, Anthony Martial will have missed over 100 games due to injury. This stat explains his tenure at the club. However, Martial is an extremely gifted soccer player. His composure, close control, and finishing skills have been lauded throughout his career. The Frenchman just needs a continuous stretch of injury-free games and a consistent streak. Where will he get a chance to find these next?
Where could Anthony Martial be playing next season?
According to The Athletic, Anthony Martial rejected approaches from clubs like Marseille, Fenerbahce, and Saudi Pro League clubs to stay at United in January. However, with his exit imminent, could he take up any of these offers again?
🚨 Marseille and Monaco are both interested in signing Anthony Martial on a free transfer when his contract runs out this summer.

Marseille could do with a striker/winger like Martial. They could link him up with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and two players can put their experience into use in front of goal. The Frenchman can even make a return to AS Monaco in Ligue 1. Fenerbahce have Dusan Tadic and Edin Dzeko in their ranks and the addition of Martial could be likely a good one. However, it might not be the best time to join the Turkish league.
When it comes to Saudi Pro League, Martial can certainly make a name for himself there. With talks about Karim Benzema leaving, the Frenchman can be replaced by his countryman at Al-Ittihad. However, the 28-year-old has a few good years left in him, he should try and stay in Europe and make the most of his skills.
