The Rock is arguably one of the best in the world when it comes to the promo game. Many big-name stars like The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, etc. had the luxury of being on the receiving end of The Great One’s verbal Smackdown.
One person who got to know The Rock’s ability to bury fellow WWE superstars on the mic firsthand was WWE legend Triple H. During an episode of Raw in August 2002, the current WWE Chief Content Officer got owned by the Hollywood megastar.
The Rock interrupted the Triple H promo and didn’t hold back at all. “The Rock. Brahma bull. Great one. People’s champ. And oh, to say the least, The Rock is something you’re not undisputed champion so SHUT UP BI*CH.” This led to a massive pop from the live fans in attendance. The promo even caught Triple H off-guard as he almost broke character and burst out laughing for a brief moment.
The duo then went on to have a no-disqualification match on the 19th August 2002 episode of Raw. The match ended in a no contest. This was the last time both Triple H and The Rock competed against each other in their career.
Triple H wanted The Rock to main-event WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns
The Rock’s WWE return has been one of the biggest talking points in wrestling in recent times. The Jumanji actor was rumored to face his cousin and WWE’s top star Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H in a sit-down interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sports in 2022 opened up about the possibility of having The Rock at WrestleMania 39.
“I know somewhere deep inside of him there is that burning thing to go, ‘I gotta feel that one more time, gotta get in there one more time because that clock is ticking,” he said.
Since a deadline for WrestleMania plans is coming, The Rock indicated he won’t have time to get into the shape he feels he needs to be in to do a main event match vs Roman Reigns, but kept the door open for something in the future.— WrestlePurists (@WrestlePurists) January 20, 2023

The Rock unfortunately wasn’t able to clear his schedule for the big money match. He reportedly couldn’t get into ring shape before the WWE’s deadline. Triple H later confirmed that The Rock has an open invitation to make his WWE return whenever he wants. Fans are now hoping that they will get to see the WWE legend in action one more time before he finally hangs up his wrestling boots.
