Marketa Vondrousova is living her Wimbledon dream. Having knocked crowd favorite Elina Svitolina out of the tournament, she will face Ons Jabeur in the summit clash. The Czech tennis star came out swinging against the Ukrainian Svitolina, who could not live up to her country’s expectations.
Besides her reaching the final, the other thing people cannot stop talking about is Marketa’s tattoos. Vondrousova has a whole array of tattoos on her arms, which are beautiful pieces of art in their own right.

Her left arm has been the talk of the town for a while now as fans have tried to decipher the meaning of her tattoos. The player has had her share of injuries, but she has always bounced back from them like the trooper that she is, leaving fans to wonder if there is a connection between the two.
What is the meaning behind Marketa’s tattoos?
The one quote on her arm that is clearly visible is “No rain, No flowers.” It is very obvious that the young Czech player follows this philosophy. If you are to look for meaning behind this, it is quite possible the player believes you need to face difficulties in order to reach the top. As rain causes flowers to bloom, the difficulty is the water that results in the blooming of success.
When she had her tryst with injuries, her tattoo collection grew. Some of them have a deeper meaning, like those she shares with her sister Julia. There are some just for the pure aesthetic of it.
Marketa Vondrousova’s first tattoo
Marketa admitted that she got her first tattoo when she was only 16 years old. “It was my birthday gift. I don’t know; I just felt like I wanted more after that.”
“Now, to me, it’s also art, and I respect those who practice it. I frequently visit three or four tattoo artists. Some are in Prague, and most of them are female,” added the Czech star.
Marketa’s encounters with injuries
Marketa’s health has failed her at the most crucial of times. Her wrist has been the main cause of injuries. She had to get it operated on twice to be able to play again.
It began after she made it to the finals of the French Open in 2019. It forced her to sit out of the game for 6 months. When she got back to playing, further wrist troubles meant she had to put a pause on her tennis career for another 6 months.

Vondrousova definitely took inspiration from her “No Rain, No Flowers” tattoo as she made her comeback. What a comeback it has been for the Wimbledon finalist. She is the first unseeded player to play in a final in the Open Era. The 24-year-old will be taking on Ons Jabeur, and fans are expecting both players to produce magic on the court.
