Sam Darnold is a quarterback who plays for the NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers. He had played college football at the University of Southern California and was drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft as the third overall pick.
Sam Darnold’s currently contract with the San Francisco 49ers which he signed in March earlier this year is worth $4.5 million. Out of that $3.5 million is guaranteed salary for him and will also be including a signing bonus worth $1.5 million. However here’s the catch, Darnold can earn much more with almost $6.5 million in incentives alone as per Spotrac! He has $58,824 per active game bonus and $300,000 in case of a regular season win + 25% of snaps.
All in all he can earn upto $11.5 million including play-time, playoffs, wins and passer rating incentives. His earlier contract with the New York Jets was worth $30,247,715 guaranteed for four years. It included a signing bonus of $20,078,338 and an average annual salary of $7,561,929.
Kyle Shanahan places his confidence on Sam Darnold in the absence of Brock Purdy
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has full faith in quarterback Sam Darnold. Shanahan feels Darnold is raring to go and had a great offseason. Shanahan praised Darnold’s attitude as well and said he has the right mindset during training sessions.
“I have as much confidence in Sam as I could have with someone that I haven’t gone into a real NFL game with. He was great in the offseason. He’s been great here in these seven weeks so far, and he’s always ready to go,” said Shanahan.

“He’s great in the meetings and stuff. He doesn’t get many reps, as no backups do, but he does it well on the scout team, he’s always good in the meetings. We got mainly walk-through today, so Brock’s allowed to do some of the walk-through. We’ve got a couple periods that aren’t, so Sam will get those periods.”
Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Sam Darnold will have the opportunity to shine and show his quality. He is ahead of Trey Lance at the moment and he needs to step up if it has to stay that way. Darnold had a fantastic offseason, but against Joe Burrow and company, it will be a whole different ball game.
