Anthony Edwards has risen as one of the most dominant young basketball stars in the league. However, before all the fame and fortune, the 22-year-old had quite a rough upbringing. While growing up in Atlanta Georgia, Edwards was raised by his mother, Yvette, and grandmother, Shirley until 2015. Both of them passed away that year within a span of eight months after losing their battle with cancer.

The Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard was taken in by his three elder siblings. Eventually, Edwards went on to pursue basketball while playing for the University of Georgia. After one season with the Georgia Bulldogs, Edwards, who was 18 years old at the time decided to declare for the NBA Draft. The Wolves selected him as the first overall pick and the rest is history.
Anthony Edwards never fails to motivate his brother
The Timberwolves are currently battling it out against the defending champions, Denver Nuggets. They recently played at the Target Center in Minneapolis where the Wolves secured a series-tying victory to push for Game 7. While Anthony Edwards stole the show during the first half, his brother, Rapper Bdifferent performed for the halftime show. Ahead of the game, he revealed what Anthony’s most annoying habit is which motivates him a lot.
“He’s always pushing me to keep recording. And he’s on my head all the time about sending new songs. You know, because he likes to get hyped before the game. So he pressures me into sending new songs and stuff like that. He’s super supportive,” the rapper said. However, this clearly shows how driven Edwards can be and the extent he goes to inspire the ones around him.
The Timberwolves have found a great leader in Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards has proven one thing during the playoffs this year, that he can be a true leader irrespective of his age and the experience that surrounds him. During Game 6, Edwards was heard telling his team to keep pushing the pace despite being in the lead by double-digits. Even during the post-game press conference, the 22-year-old star revealed that he tried to motivate Karl-Anthony Towns to make the right plays and trust everybody.
He took the opportunity to appreciate KAT’s work in Game 6 by saying, “This morning we said, KAT make the right play, trust everybody [and] make the right play. And I’m going to tell you tonight, you made the right play f**king [time].” Game 7 is going to get their biggest matchup ever, and Edwards seemed uber-motivated to close it out once and for all.
