Alexandre Sarr takes up after Giannis Antetokounmpo and bigs of his stature
Recently, Alexandre Sarr made an appearance on Paul George’s podcast to discuss a few things about himself and possibly becoming the No.1 overall pick this year. George was curious to know who Sarr took inspiration from and the projected top pick revealed that he tries to emulate his game based on various big men.
“I like watching Giannis, KD, AD too. That’s more of like my position guys. I mean, of course, I like watch guards but at the end of the day, you can get a little moves from the guards. But I can’t really go out there and do the crosses he be doing you know. You gotta stick to your game,” he said.
Sarr added, “If I just pick what Giannis does in transition, like just the bumps, the one-two, and finish at the rim, that’s a move I think when you’re long and Athletic, it can really help you.” Sarr mainly focuses on how to utilize his length, standing at a staggering 7’1” feet.
Alexandre Sarr takes pride in his versatility
Out of curiosity, George also wanted to know how well Alexandre Sarr could handle pressure situations while negotiating a contract before coming into the league. George asked the former OTE player to pitch himself to an owner or general manager hypothetically. He said, “I mean, I would say my versatility on both sides of the court [is a selling factor].”

He added, “It gives you room to play different types of schemes. And I can like, fit a lot of these schemes. I would just say that probably.” During his time in Australia, Sarr averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 17.3 minutes per game. He also shot 52% from the field while making 71% of his free throw attempts. It would be interesting to see him play against players like Victor Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren, and Nikola Jokic, who are some of the most versatile centers in the league.
