Is this the last chance for the Boston Celtics to win an NBA championship? As most fans should be aware, we are approaching the final stages of the NBA playoffs with only 4 teams remaining in contention for a coveted championship. In the East, the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers have matched up. In the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks are currently facing off.
While all of these teams have a chance to make it to the NBA Finals and win a championship, the fact remains that the Celtics are in a different situation when compared to the other teams remaining. Since newer fans might be unaware of the context, a closer look at Boston’s situation is required.
The Boston Celtics have crushed every team so far in the postseason
After making upgrades to their roster such as adding Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics finished the regular season with the best record in the entire NBA and were matched up against the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers in their first 2 postseason series.
This means that the Celtics are only 2 wins away from making the NBA Finals once again and 6 wins away from winning their first title in this generation. However, there is a certain pressure that Jayson Tatum and his squad will be feeling that none of the remaining teams in the playoffs are dealing with.
Tatum and Brown are in the middle of their prime and cannot afford another Finals loss
In terms of experience and accomplishments so far, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the only team remaining that has made it to multiple conference finals before and even played in the NBA Finals. They are also older when compared to the likes of Luka Doncic, Tyrese Haliburton, or Anthony Edwards.
As a result, any team that the Boston Celtics matchup against will be less experienced and unused to playing under the same amount of pressure. If the Celtics are unable to win despite having their two stars in the middle of their prime, they will not be expected to win an NBA championship in the near future. Especially since the majority of teams they defeated in the playoffs were dealing with injuries.
