Leading podcaster Joe Rogan has heaped praise on ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Demetrious Johnson. Rogan has long been an advocate for the fighting skills of “Mighty Mouse,” and in a recent episode alongside fellow comedian Joey Diaz, he gave another glowing assessment.
“He’s probably the best ever, in terms of just pure martial arts technique. I think the best expression of martial arts technique is ‘Mighty Mouse,’” he said.

The numbers back it up too. Johnson is a 12-time UFC Flyweight Champion and still reigns over ONE’s talent-rich flyweight division. Since he closed out the trilogy with Adriano Moraes last year, however, the 37-year-old has been winning plaudits for his performances in grappling competition.
Joe Rogan praises Demetrious Johnson’s recent grappling victory
Joe Rogan couldn’t quite believe Demetrious Johnson’s submission win over 250-pound monster Mike Medina at the IBJJF Pan Championships in Kissimmee, Florida. Rogan and Diaz watched the video and had this to say.
“How crazy is that? ‘Mighty Mouse’ took on a guy who is 250 pounds in a jiu-jitsu tournament and he tapped him. The dude was heavier than him by 100 pounds, the dude was enormous. The guy was so much bigger than him. Look at that size difference, look how big that dude is. But ‘Mighty Mouse’ is so slick,” Rogan said.
“There it is, and he manages to stay on top, which is really crazy. It’s crazy that he couldn’t get him off of him. That’s technique. It’s pretty wild that he’s even willing to do this while he’s still competing. He’s still doing MMA, he’s still doing high-level championship fights.”
Despite reportedly weighing only 155 pounds at the competition, Johnson took silver in the openweight category after his win over Medina.
The American MMA legend claimed gold in the Master 2 Featherweight division to add yet another title to his already stacked trophy cabinet. Last year, Johnson kicked off his foray into grappling competition at the IBJJF Masters World Championships, where he swept the field of more than 30 competitors to win gold in the brown belt category.
