- Sundell was amazed by the tricks that Tawanchai was able to pull off.
ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Smilla Sundell defends her belt in the main event of ONE Fight Night 22 on Prime Video on Friday, May 3, against Natalia Diachkova.
The Swedish striker has been on a rampage since arriving in ONE Championship. Part of her success across four outings comes from not taking a foe lightly. This time, with a knockout artist as dangerous as Diachkova, Sundell has enlisted the help of ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai. In fact, he’s taught her many new tricks.

“I did his seminar in Bangkok at PK Saenchai with my friend Matt. We went there and wanted to learn some new skills and see how he did seminars because I want to go to America after my fight to do seminars. I’ve done one now, and I like teaching, so it was fun,” Sundell said. “I just wanted to see other people doing it too. He had some good tricks, so I learned some new stuff. He taught me some small tricks, like how to do a push kick differently, which was cool.”
Both Sundell and Tawanchai will be in action over the coming months, so sharpening one another’s iron will only make for the betterment of their performances later this year.
Smilla Sundell is in awe of what Tawanchai PK Saenchai can do
ONE women’s strawweight Muay Thai queen Smilla Sundell recently sat under the learning tree of fellow featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai, and the youthful striker left aghast by the Thai’s wealth of knowledge. “The Hurricane” sparred with Tawanchai, coming away with many new attributes to use when she defends her crown against Diachkova in ONE Fight Night 22’s main event in May.
“We did drills and a one-minute sparring with him. He’s very fast and strong. He didn’t go full power in the sparring, but wow,” Sundell said. “There’s no competition in it. He’s like a cat playing with a rat. It’s too easy for him sometimes – he doesn’t even try.”
