Noah Lyles comment on NBA Finals winners crowned as”World Champions”
The American sprinter, Noah Lyles, took a dig at the NBA Finals winner at the Budapest World Athletics Championship. He expressed his discontent at seeing the NBA Finals winners referred to as ‘world champions.’ “World Champion of what? The United States?” Lyles questioned.
“Don’t get me wrong. I love the US, at times, but that ain’t the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA,” he further added.

Some of the American sprinters, such as Sha’Carri Richardson, have also come forward to back Lyles.
Despite facing backlash, Lyles has not backed down from his comment. He also came forward on social media to defend his stance and underline the fact that sports should flaunt their inclusivity.
