Melanoma is one of the more dangerous forms of cancer and Ninja will need every bit of goodwill and blessings to make his way through this tough time, but we, and his friends and family are with him.
What is melanoma?
Melanoma is a type of cancer that affects the skin. It originates in melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin, giving skin its color. Melanoma causes these cells to undergo a transformation that leads to uncontrolled growth of cancerous cells.
While there are other types of skin cancers, melanoma is termed to be the most dangerous as it spreads far more quickly than the other types. Melanoma does not have a particular spot for development but it tends to develop in areas exposed to sunlight. However, if detected early, melanoma tends to pose less of a threat, as is the case with Ninja.
It is always important for everybody to go through tests annually or bi-annually, especially for symptoms they may be suspicious about. You never know when a slight pain can turn out to be a cancerous tumor.
