The Dallas Cowboys are all set to enter the NFL 2023 regular season with a new placekicker. The team has recently signed star soccer player Brandon Aubrey to play with them. Reports suggest that the kicker has left his USFL career to play in the NFL.
Cowboys’ kicker Brett Maher missed four extra points during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This has reportedly led the team to go for Brandon Aubrey. Maher succeeded in 29 out of the 32 passing attempts he made. However, it couldn’t stop General Manager Jerry Jones from making a change.
Recently, the Cowboys tested Brandon Aubrey with a 59-yard field goal attempt during the preseason match against the Las Vegas Raiders. The star player succeeded in it and impressed coach Mike McCarthy. After the game, Aubrey expressed his happiness and mentioned that he had a “good feeling”.
“Yeah, it was great… You don’t often get a second shot at something like that. It was good… Hit it nice and pure, and it went through the uprights. It was a good feeling,” he said.
Brandon Aubrey further expressed his positive approach to the “new beginning”. “Every end is the start of a new beginning… So for me, this is my third career, and so just start looking forward to it and just living by myself. That got me here,” he said.
Now, after signing Aubrey, the Cowboys must be ready to thrash their opponents in the regular season. The star player also must be ready to give his best during the match against the New York Giants.
