NFL star Tom Brady has undoubtedly established himself as one of the greatest players in the league. Born in August 1977, Brady was the best quarterback in the NFL during his era. Considering his exceptional talent and skills, people keep comparing him with other star athletes. Now, former tennis legend Boris Becker has also compared a great player to Brady.
While talking about Novak Djokovic, 56-year-old Becker compared him to other star athletes including Tom Brady. He drew this comparison as both Djokovic and the NFL legend are the masters of their respective games. People know both of them for dominating their career fields with their talent. Along with Brady, the tennis star compared Djokovic to soccer star Lionel Messi and NBA star LeBron James.
“For me, he is the lion king… He’s not just the best tennis player at the moment, but the best sportsman. I want to compare him to a Lionel Messi, a LeBron James and a Tom Brady – for me, that’s the category Novak Djokovic is in because all these athletes are dominating or have dominated their sport even in their mid or late thirties,” Becker said.
It’s worth noting that 36-year-old Djokovic is currently the No. 1 tennis player in singles. The tennis star has been exceptional after he lost the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz in July this year. Born in May 1987, Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam winner.
Becker comparing the Serbian player to Tom Brady isn’t surprising as the QB has been exceptional. The New England Patriots star led his teams to victory several times throughout his 23-year NFL career. He has gained so much popularity that people are crazy about him even after his retirement.
Tom Brady had a phenomenal 23-year NFL career
Tom Brady entered the NFL in 2000 with the New England Patriots. The team selected him as their 199th pick in the 6th round of the NFL Draft that year. However, nobody would’ve imagined at the time that Brady would turn out to be an NFL GOAT. In fact, he didn’t get to start even a single game for the team in his rookie year.
After that, the famous tuck rule game took place in 2001 and it changed the 6-foot-4 QB‘s fortune. Tom Brady started his first game against the Indianapolis Colts. With his performance, he led the Patriots to the Super Bowl ring that year and became the Super Bowl MVP. The California-born player even holds the record for starting the most games (381) in the history of the league.
