NFL’s young star Sam Williams is in trouble once again for a new reason. The defensive end recently gained the spotlight after Frisco police arrested him on August 20. As per reports, Williams was charged with two charges including possession of a controlled substance. However, this is not the first time that Williams has been in legal trouble.
The Frisco police found out that Sam Williams possessed marijuana and carried a weapon unlawfully. Considering these offenses, the police have charged the NFL star with low-level state felony and misdemeanor. Reports suggest that the Dallas Cowboys are aware of their defensive end’s arrest.
Before this, Sam Williams got an arrest warrant in December last year after getting involved in a fatal car accident. The star player reportedly sustained injuries during a car crash which blemished his rookie season. According to reports, the Dallas athlete came up with numerous stories about the incident at that time.

The police eventually found out that he was driving at 98 miles/hour in a location where the speed limit was around 55 miles/hour. It resulted in a car crash and Sam Williams had to miss a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Not just this, Sam Williams was involved in a legal proceeding during his college time as well. When he was studying at the University of Mississippi, he was charged with Sexual battery. As per reports, the University suspended Williams in July 2020. He rejoined the team two months later after he got free of the charges.
Sam Williams has already seen enough trouble in the 24 years of his life. From his college to the NFL, the Dallas star keeps attracting legal issues. Now, the team and fans are waiting for him to get free of the recent charges.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addresses Sam Williams’ arrest
After the police arrested Sam Williams, everyone was waiting for the Dallas Cowboys owner’s reaction. The owner, Jerry Jones, has finally commented on the defensive end’s arrest, and it’s quite shocking. To everyone’s surprise, Jones has spoken in support of the young star.
“Well, first of all, I’m seeing that he is as… which is more often the case than not… this sounds a little hollow… but he does and is… maturing… And he is. What was he going, 66 miles an hour? So he’s 34 miles an hour less this year than he was last year. 98 to 66. So that’s improvement,” Jones said.
Along with the Cowboys’ owner, the team’s head coach has also expressed his faith in Sam Williams. Head coach Mike McCarthy mentioned that the defensive end’s mistake is like “a good wake-up call”. McCarthy further said that Williams needs to “slow down”.
“I had a chance to visit with Sam… I think any time you make a mistake, it’s a good wake-up call… I believe in Sam Williams. I obviously did when we drafted him and even more so now… He needs to slow down. He knows that. That’s the first step,” he said.
The recent arrest of Sam Williams can put him in great trouble, as he might even face suspension. However, his team’s owner and head coach supporting him must be a relief for the defensive end.
