When the Kansas City Chiefs began the game against the Detroit Lions, everyone felt like the Chiefs would win. However, the Lions exhibited a great performance and won the match 21-20. After the match, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes made it clear that he was embarrassed by the loss. It further made it obvious that tight end Travis Kelce holds a special place on the team.
Mahomes mentioned that for him, it’s a whole new season, so they need to forget the previous Super Bowl win. The star quarterback mentioned that the team needs to give its best this year as well. He expressed his disappointment and mentioned that it was not how they “wanted to start” the season.

“It’s embarrassing for me to lose any time,” Mahomes said during the postgame news conference. “Like I said after the ring ceremony, I’ve moved on to the next season… But this is a whole new year and I think I know that and we are trying to win another Super Bowl and this is obviously not the way we wanted to start,” he said.
While talking about Travis Kelce, the Madden 24 highest-rated star referred to him as “the best tight end of all time”. Kelce was there at the stadium, watching only 53.8% of his quarterback’s targets find their target. The Chiefs’ receivers were not good at all, as they dropped four passes during the game. It’s quite obvious that Mahomes missed Kelce in the season opener.
Travis Kelce has been phenomenal during the regular season since his debut with the Chiefs. The NFL star has an average of 1,288 yards and 9.4 touchdowns every season. After the defeat, the Chiefs must be praying for Kelce to get well soon.
When will Travis Kelce be back with the Kansas City Chiefs after injury?
Travis Kelce sustained a “bone bruise” after he hyper-extended his knee during a practice session on September 5. Reports suggested that he avoided any structural damage and would recover soon. However, the star player couldn’t play in the season opener against the Lions.
As per reports, the team had decided to test Kelce before the game to see if he could play. However, the tight end reportedly seemed powerless and couldn’t make it to the active players. The NFL’s reporter, Ian Rapport, took to X to reveal that Travis Kelce wouldn’t play in the kickoff.

“#Chiefs star TE Travis Kelce is out tonight against the #Lions. He may give it another try before kickoff. Either way, the bone bruise should not keep him out long-term,” he wrote.
Reports suggest that the eight-time Pro Bowl might make a comeback in week 2, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His presence in the game will surely boost Mahomes’ confidence and help the team. All the Chiefs fans are currently wishing Travis Kelce to be back to lead the team to another Super Bowl.
