- In an interview, Mike Evans revealed that he extended his contract with the Buccaneers thanks to his wife.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-year-old wide receiver Mike Evans was on the verge of moving away from the franchise. However, his wife somehow convinced him to stay at the last moment. Evans joined the Bucs in 2014 as round one, 7th pick in that year’s draft. During the early stages of his football career, he played for Ball High School and later for Texas A&M University.
The wide receiver’s supreme performance in the NFL’s debut season earned him a place on the PFWA All-Rookie team. In 2023, Evans became the NFL receiving touchdowns co-leader and made his fifth appearance in the Pro Bowl. The Bucs’ number 13 stats in the NFL during ten seasons are quite attractive.
Until the end of last season, Evans made 154 appearances for the Bucs and managed 762 receiving yards, covering 11,680 yards and 94 touchdowns in the regular season. While in the postseason, the 30-year-old played nine games, made 45 receives, and covered 709 yards and five touchdowns.
How did Mike Evans’s wife convince him to re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
The 30-year-old almost decided to leave the club and was looking for a new challenge in the league before his wife came into the picture. Bucs fans should thank Ashli Dotson, Evans’s wife, for convincing the man not to leave the franchise. Since joining, Evans has proved to be a standout performer for the Buccaneers, and losing him might be costly for them.
During Evans’ interview with Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, he explained how his wife changed his plan. Evans said, “I don’t want to stay I was waiting for my wife to speak up, but she just planted it.”

However, the 30-year-old also said everything wasn’t meant to be money; he just wanted everything to be good. Evans also hopes to get Baker Mayfield with him as quarterback, but he’s ready to play with anyone.
How much will Mike Evans earn after a contract extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
