The young star comes in at No. 11 among all the players in the Indianapolis Colts, which is surprising keeping his good performance in mind. The base salary of Jonathan Taylor is $4,304,000 presently, with his cap hit standing at $5,117,482. The highest-paid player in the Colts is linebacker Shaquille Leonard, with a base salary of $15,700,000.
It’s worth noting that the Indianapolis Colts drafted Jonathan Taylor in his rookie year in 2020. He signed a 4-year contract with the team that was worth $7,829,150, including a signing bonus of $3,253,928. In his 3-year NFL career, the running back has already earned a Pro Bowl selection.
It’s quite shocking to know that Jonathan Taylor is not even among the top 10 earners for the Colts. Keeping his impressive performance in mind, it seems quite genuine that he’s looking for a different option.
Why does Jonathan Taylor want to leave the Indianapolis Colts?
Everything this was going well but then came the news of Jonathan Taylor wanting to leave the Indianapolis Colts. According to reports, the Colts owner Jim Irsay visited the team during a practice session. He reportedly had a one-on-one conversation with Taylor in which the running back expressed his desire for trade.
Reports suggest that the NFL star is irritated with the team due to the lack of a contract extension. It’s worth noting that Jonathan Taylor is in the last year of his rookie contract with the team. Some sources even claim that there are disagreements between Taylor and the team regarding his injuries.

The Colts were allegedly planning to put Taylor on the Non-football Injury list. The running back, on the other hand, took to X to claim that he has never reported any back injury.
“1.) Never had a back pain. 2.) Never reported back pain… Not sure who “sources” are, but find new ones,” he wrote.
The Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay has said that the team is not going to trade Jonathan Taylor at any cost. But, it’s worth noting that the running back seems quite resolute about trading. Now, only time will tell if the Indianapolis Colts will trade him or not.
