John Harbaugh’s coaching career
John Harbaugh started his professional coaching career in 1984 as running back and outside linebackers coach for Western Michigan. After three seasons at the club, he moved to Pittsburgh in 1987 as a tight-end coach.
Then, in 1988, he again moved to Morehead State as a unique team coach and secondary coach. In 1989, he moved to the NFL as a special teams coordinator coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. After seven seasons, he left the Bengals in 1996 and joined the Colts for one season as special teams coordinator & defensive back in 1997.
In 1998, the Ohio man went to the Philadelphia Eagles and started working as a special teams coordinator. In 2007, his coaching role was changed at the club, and he became the franchise’s defensive back coach. In 2008, he moved to the Ravens as a head coach and began a new career chapter.
During his time with the Ravens, the coach won his first Super Bowl in his coaching career in 2012. He also won AP NFL Coach of the Year, PFWA Coach of the Year, and Maxwell Club NFL Coach of the Year 2019.
