SUMMARY
- Cody Rhodes responds on being trolled during AEW Dynasty press conference with a joke on his WrestleMania victory.
- During a recent interview, The American Nightmare reacted to the incident, and also had a complaint against Tony Khan.
Ever since returning to WWE after his AEW departure, Cody Rhodes has arguably been the most talked-about performer in the promotion. From being considered the next face of the company to finally finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, The American Nightmare has achieved a lot in the span of just two years in the organization.
Despite all the achievements in the company, Cody hasn’t really said anything bad about his career in the Tony Khan-led promotion. But it seems that he has had enough of the things that have been stated against him, as he recently responded to the remarks that were made against him by a superstar from the Jacksonville-based promotion.
It happened during Rhodes’ appearance on Tuesday’s episode of the Cheap Heat podcast. During the conversation, the fan-favorite star talked about a lot of things and also stated how Tony Khan should have warned AEW stars who are trolling him after his fame in the biggest wrestling promotion in the entire world.
I don’t want AEW to go away,I want their toxic fanbase to dip.

Sharing his thoughts about the comments about him during the press conference, The American Nightmare said, “I would never root against them — in any case. That’s not always easy because random things said about you at press conferences, and that’s a big no-no, you should never say me or my wife’s name, Tony should have told you that. (Via: X)
Looking at the comments by Cody Rhodes, it’s evident that he isn’t someone who’s going to root against his former workplace. But they also show that he probably got hurt after being trolled by an active member of All Elite Wrestling‘s roster during the media interaction after the recent AEW Dynasty pay-per-view.
Toni Storm made fun of Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 victory
The American Nightmare talked about being trolled by an AEW, but not everyone from the industry was aware of the incident. For those who aren’t aware of whom Cody was referring to, it was none other than Toni Storm, as she made fun of Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 victory in the press conference after Dynasty.
During the interaction, the Tony Khan-led promotion’s Women’s Champion said, “Antony [Tony Khan], I promise no matter how many matches I win, no matter how many stories I finish, I will never call you into the ring to celebrate with me. Being Timeless means I’m not on your watch. My success is my own, and you’re damn lucky to be a part of it.” (Via: Fightful)

It seems evident from her comments that it was a reference to Rhodes’ victory at the event in Philadelphia, as Triple H joined him in the ring during celebrations. As it was unexpected to hear something like that from a reputed name in the AEW, it’s probably why Cody Rhodes has also responded to the remarks by Toni Storm.
Tony Khan has previously talked about the AEW exit of Cody Rhodes
While the current talk of the town is Cody’s comments about how Tony should have warned the AEW star from talking about him, fans wonder if the CEO has ever talked about Rhodes’ shift to the Triple H-led promotion. In this regard, Tony Khan has previously talked about the departure of Cody Rhodes.
During a December 2022 interview with Graspody, he talked about The American Nightmare’s exit from his company. Khan said, “Whenever you lose a star the caliber of Cody Rhodes, it’s going to have a major impact on your company. Personally, I really like Cody and I know Cody really well and he was so involved in so many different facets with the start of AEW and what we were. When he left, that was a major challenge.” (Credits- Comicbook)
It must be noted that Cody left the Jacksonville-based promotion after his contract expired in January 2022. This was also the reason why he was able to make a huge return at WrestleMania 38. Since that day, Rhodes has been booked as the face of WWE, and that’s why it seems that his decision to leave All Elite Wrestling was surely a monumental one.
