The former WWE star Edge has taken the entire wrestling world by storm as he stepped inside the AEW ring at the WrestleDream pay-per-view. Walking in as Adam Copeland, the Rated R Superstar has a lot to devote to the Tony Khan-led promotion.
Edge had his last match in WWE in August in front of the Toronto audience. Sheamus became the man to bid goodbye to the Rated Superstar. However, many fans believe that he deserved a better farewell, having given so much to the pro wrestling industry.
Since then, there have been speculations that he would soon go ahead and join AEW. WWE also put Edge on their internal roster before taking him off the website as well. But despite WWE giving him numerous opportunities, why did Edge leave WWE?
3. Edge lacked a promising storyline in WWE
The Rated R Superstar went through a life-threating injury in 2011 that forced him to take an early retirement. However, he came out strong and made a massively surprising return at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Soon after, he got involved in a story with Randy Orton.
Looking back at his career before his first retirement, everyone felt that Edge deserved a lot more. The only storyline he was majorly involved in was against The Judgment Day. With him now in AEW, Tony Khan is sure to give him the exposure he needs.
2. Edge wanted to reunite with Christian
Adam Copeland and Christian have been great friends both on and off the ring. The fans have been really excited to see them join hands once again. Him joining AEW would also mean that the two would take the promotion to new heights with a massive storyline.

As some of you may now know, I’m no longer with WWE. My new home is AEW. I’m excited. Whole new roster. Some familiar faces that I wanted to work with again and a whole set of first ever matches. New challenges, and if you’ve followed my career, you know…

Edge hasn’t yet hinted at what storyline he would be a part of in the future. It will be very interesting to note when the two pair up on the screen. Also, only time will reveal if Adam Copeland gets an opportunity to hold a belt in AEW.
1. AEW offered a huge pay to Edge
Ever since its beginning, AEW has been eyeing various stars in WWE. Tony Khan has already welcomed stars such as Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose (as Jon Moxley) and Paige (as Saraya). Not only is AEW showering huge amounts on its employees, but it has also given them a free platform to bring out their best.
With Edge now joining Tony Khan’s promotion, a bright future awaits him. It was indeed a very smart move by Tony to bring the fans from both WWE and AEW together as they witness Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland rock the ring in the future.
