UFC mainstay and commentator Jon Anik may have given a disheartening update on UFC 300. During the Q&A session of UFC 300 alongside fighters Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Jim Miller, and Aljamain Sterling, Jon Anik hinted at the possible main event of UFC 300.
Answering a question on who they think should headline UFC 300, former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling showed interest in a possible match-up between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.

Gaethje and Holloway didn’t shy away from throwing their names into the mix as Jon Anik echoed the same idea – Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway could well be the UFC 300 main event.
Who can headline UFC 300?
According to Jon Anik, there’s a massive possibility Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway could headline UFC 300. “I would go with Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje. And I actually think right now, if I had to make a prediction, that’s going to be your main event for UFC 300.” Anik said.
Earlier, Dana White revealed during a post-match press conference at Power Slap 6 that the UFC is working on two more fights for UFC 300. And that doesn’t include a main event. “Co-main and another fight,” White said.

There’s still no confirmation on whether or not UFC is planning to book a headliner for UFC 300. White has already suggested Conor McGregor is out of the picture. Even Jon Jones has confirmed he rejected UFC’s offer to headline UFC 300. Tom Aspinall was also offered a fight against Stipe Miocic in what would have been a rare defense of the interim gold. However, even that fight fell apart after Miocic did not show any interest in the match-up.
Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad for UFC 300 is an idea that has been floating around for a while. However, most fans on social media are against the match-up, with the general idea that it will be a “boring” fight.
With no Islam Makhachev or Khamzat Chimaev, it hardly leaves UFC any options. Well, of course, except Isreal Adesanya.
The Stylebender is probably the most active fighter in the history of the UFC. The former Middleweight Champion competed in a record 11 title fights since becoming the interim middleweight champion in 2019. And while he may have teased a long break after his loss to Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya is already in camp preparing for UFC 300.

According to coach Eugene Bareman, the UFC has offered them a fight, and they have said yes. Speaking to The Mac Life, Bareman also revealed Adesanya is dealing with an injury, but it’s a risk they are willing to take to headline UFC 300.
“We assessed it because Israel is coming off an injury. We assessed everything and put everything together and we decided as a team that yeah, let’s get into camp. Let’s come back a little earlier at some risk, some proper risk… there is a strong possibility that this fight could happen on this date.” He said.
