UFC heavyweights possess an extraordinary amount of punching power reflected exceptionally well by Francis Ngannou. The Cameroonian-French athlete, who has now left the UFC and turned to boxing and PFL, once set the record for the strongest punch. He punched with a force of over 129,000 units on a PowerKube machine. Current UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall tried to break that record.
Known for having a mean punch in his locker, fans were expecting Aspinall to come close to Ngannou’s score. However, he was far from it. On his YouTube channel, Aspinall posted his attempt at the PowerKube machine. He was in the process of learning how to hit the specific machine as he kept getting scores of around 30,000 or 40,000. The maximum he touched was close to 45,000 units. Aspinall was left in disbelief with Ngannou’s score.

“If [Ngannou] did 129,000 and I did 40,000, that is ridiculous stuff. I think there’s something going on then, I’m thinking about quitting!” 😂

However, Ngannou’s record has reportedly been beaten by UFC middleweight fighter Joe Pyfer. The Englishman punched with extraordinary force to get over 170,000 units on the machine. He talked about it on Joe Rogan‘s podcast as well. He claimed he got over 180,000 units, but on video, he just has the 170,000 units. Many refuse to believe he did so but there was video proof of it.
Tom Aspinall defeated Francis Ngannou by the slightest of margins on a different punching machine
On a different punching machine, Ngannou had put up a score of 941. On a similar machine, Aspinall also attempted his strongest punch. This time, however, he did not only come close to Ngannou’s score. He beat the score by the slightest of margins.

Aspinall pulled up a score of 942. It should be noted, however, that the machines could have some differences to them. The PowerKube machine scores are more reliable as they were surely the same machines for both fighters.
Tom Aspinall predicts the winner between Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua
Ngannou will participate in his second boxing bout on March 8, 2024, against Anthony Joshua. He made his debut against Tyson Fury in October 2023 and impressed the combat sports world with his extraordinary performance.
His fight against Joshua holds great significance. According to Eddie Hearn, the winner of Joshua vs. Ngannou will face the winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk. Fury vs Usyk will take place in May for the undisputed heavyweight title.
Many pro fighters have made their predictions for the fight and so has Aspinall. While talking to Betsson, Aspinall claimed, “Now [After Ngannou’s show against Fury] I’m really high on Francis Ngannou’s boxing level. I think he’s brilliant and has a chance against anybody. If he can do what he did against Tyson Fury, he has a chance against anybody.”
In his latest prediction on BBC Sport, Aspinall reiterated his surprise at Ngannou being the underdog. He said, “Boxers are not used to the angles that MMA fighters throw punches at, you’ll see Ngannou dipping to the side and coming over the top… Ngannou is the underdog, after the last fight I’m surprised, whoever lands first with one of those big bombs will get the win.”
We are in for a cracker when it comes to Ngannou vs. Joshua. As much as the fans are excited, pro fighters have shown excitement for the fight as well.
