- Michael Bisping believes that the UFC could be prompted to bring Brock Lesnar in against Tom Aspinall.
- Recently, Tom Aspinall fueled the rumors of a Brock Lesnar fight with two big hints.
UFC 300 draws nearer by the day, and fans are growing anxious for some more fight news. With only six fights announced for the event so far, there is a big expectation that the UFC will pull a rabbit out of the hat. Notably, as the rumors suggest, their little party trick could include Tom Aspinall.
For the most part, Aspinall has been left searching for a fight following his interim title win at UFC 295. After beating a surging contender in Sergei Pavlovich, Tom established himself as the man to beat in the division. Unfortunately, owing to an injury to Jon Jones, a potential title unification is off the table. However, at the same time, Michael Bisping believes that the UFC could be prompted to bring Brock Lesnar in against him.
Speaking on his channel, the former fighter and now UFC commentator said, “Call me crazy. Call me Tom Aspinall’s number one fanboy, but could you imagine Brock Lesnar vs. Tom Aspinall headlining UFC 300?” Further, ‘The Count‘ went on to add, “Maybe it’s just wishful thinking. But Tom Aspinall-Brock Lesnar, that would just be mental. That is the type of thing I think the UFC are going to do.”
Whilst it is a mind-boggling proposition, to say the least, Bisping goes on to rationalize it the best he can. For one, Lesnar claimed the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 100, then fought Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Thus, it is only right that ‘The Beast Incarnate‘ makes his appearance for the third centennial event as well. Still only 46 years old, Bisping believes that Brock still has a lot to give.
Tom Aspinall makes his thoughts clear on a fight against Brock Lesnar
For the most part, Brock Lesnar is an active wrestler on the WWE roster. Moreover, with the WWE-Endeavor merger, a potential contract would not be too difficult to work out. Whilst Lesnar’s thoughts on such a fight are unknown, many seem to believe that it is something that a few million dollars can easily sway. Lastly, it solves a very precarious situation for the UFC as they look to find their UFC 300 main event.
Recently, there has been a lot of talk regarding Aspinall, as he grows seemingly frustrated with the current state of the division. With Jon Jones only willing to fight Stipe Miocic and vice versa, it leaves very limiting options for Tom, who believes his next fight should be for the interim title. Thus, many would assume that the Englishman might be open to welcoming a super fight against Lesnar.
Lo and behold, the 30-year-old has gone on to add fuel to the fire after posting a picture of Bisping’s quote with a GIF. In his Instagram story, Aspinall seemingly agreed to the fight with a nodding action. Throughout his media appearances, Tom has been confident that he is the best in the world at his division and intends to prove it as much as he can.
Previously, there were also rumors of Alex Pereira potentially wanting a shot at the Interim Heavyweight title. Whilst Aspinall has welcomed that challenge with open arms, the UFC is yet to decide on the matter. With news of Khabib Nurmagomedov potentially returning to action as well, Lesnar’s return may not be the only one. All things considered, which fight would you rather see, Tom Aspinall vs. Alex Pereira or Tom Aspinall vs. Brock Lesnar? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
