It had a short message portraying the sad news, stating, “Toby Keith passed peacefully on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Former WWE commentator and renowned personality Jim Ross also gave his heartfelt tribute to Keith. He took it to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote a short note on the country music legend. “My heart is heavy today upon hearing that my friend Toby Keith has left us,” stated Ross. He further stated that he is deeply affected by Keith’s passing and will always respect him and his work.
Jim Ross and Toby Keith were close friends and shared a deep bond of friendship over the years. In several interviews, Jim has talked about his friendship with the legendary musician. Ross also revealed that they often used to have dinner together while talking about wrestling and music. Keith has also been a huge fan of professional wrestling since the early days and even has an appearance to prove it.
Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021, which eventually took his life. Toby’s health has previously made news as he continued to discuss his cancer treatment. On September 28, 2023, he performed for the first time after being diagnosed at the People’s Choice Country Awards. He underwent multiple surgeries, but unfortunately lost the battle and passed away.
