The Los Angeles Clippers have attracted a lot of attention recently. The NBA has entered the second half of the regular season, the most crucial segment where teams start making a push for the playoffs. LA will undoubtedly be one of the strongest competitors this season. After a seemingly slow start, the Clippers are now potential title contenders ranking fourth in the Western Conference. But their recent emergence isn’t what fans are talking about.

The Clippers recently revealed their updated logo that will debut next season. But as you can see, fans aren’t too excited about the design. One fan said, “These are trash.” Another fan added, “Might as well launch their own shoe line with this logo.” This logo update comes nine years after the Clippers made an abrupt change in 2015 following Steve Ballmer’s acquisition. That logo is what we see on their jerseys today. But the Clippers are going to see a couple of changes next season besides this.
The Clippers prepare for a new era starting next season
The Clippers franchise has been around since 1970, but they were known as the Buffalo Braves before assuming the Clippers moniker. It was in 1978 that they renamed as the Clippers but they were based in San Diego. It wasn’t until 1984 that the Clippers were relocated to Los Angeles. Before sharing the Staples Center with the other LA team (Crypto.com Arena), they used to play their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena just south of the famous University of Southern California.

There were talks about the Clippers relocating to Anaheim but Donald Sterling, the owner of the Clippers at the time turned down the idea of moving. They eventually joined the Lakers and Kings (the Kings were based in LA before moving to Sacramento) to play at the Staples Center. Since then, the Lakers and Clippers have shared home courts. But Steve Ballmer has been working on a new project called the Intuit Dome. It will be the Clippers’ home turf from next season onwards.
The Clippers will also feature new jerseys with an updated color scheme
The LA Clippers’ new logo is very interesting to decipher. It features the silhouette of an oncoming ship with the seams of the basketball incorporated into the hull. The middle section of the logo carries the letter “C” and it consists of elements from a compass. The whole idea behind the inner section of the logo is to pay homage to the franchise’s “nautical roots” since San Diego is a harbor in California.
“We have been on a long journey, gathering feedback and insights from across Clipper Nation. We listened to as many voices as we could. And then engaged specialists to arrive at a timeless design that blends bedrocks of our past and our future. Our new marks are meaningful and strong, capturing our roots and our aspirations,” said Gillian Zucker on their new inventions.

Moving into the new era also brings a couple of other changes. The Clippers will don new Association Edition jerseys that alternate in the Pacific & naval blue, ember red, and white color palette. All the Clippers’ new jerseys with feature the updated logo. These changes will also be featured on the Clippers’ court at the Intuit Dome.
