UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones does not shy away from giving his opinions on relevant topics. Recently, the person who held the title before Jones, Francis Ngannou, announced his next career move. After Ngannou left the UFC over a contract dispute with Dana White, fans waited eagerly to know where Francis was heading. While rumors of Bellator and ONE Championship were always there, it was PFL that secured his signature.
Jones was quite complimentary of Ngannou at one point after the latter decided to leave UFC. There are reports that Ngannou had an offer of $8 million to fight Jones. But, the 36-year-old decided it was best for him to explore free agency rather than stay with the world’s biggest MMA promotion. Over the UFC 285 fight week, Jon’s opinion of Francis changed and he was far more aggressive with his words.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨

After winning the vacant heavyweight belt, Jones even proceeded to call Ngannou a “p**sy.” Hence, fans desperately wanted to know how Jonny Bones may act when Francis finally makes a definite career move. Now that Francis is officially a PFL fighter, Jones has finally broken his silence. In a tweet, he wrote, “Calling yourself the baddest man on the planet from across the street, who does that? Lol.”
Then cross the street

But, Francis Ngannou did not stay quiet on the matter either. The French-Cameroonian fighter is usually a very polite fighter and he maintained his composure during his retaliation as well! In a tweet, Ngannou wrote, “Then Cross the Street.”
Although they are not in the same promotion any longer, it does not seem like there is any love lost between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones. However, Jones has set his eyes on retirement after the rumored Stipe Miocic fight. Ngannou, on the other hand, is about to get started in PFL. So it does not look like fans will get to witness the dream fight in this lifetime.
Francis Ngannou will earn 50% of PPV revenue in PFL
There is a lot of interest in knowing what PFL offered Ngannou while UFC just could not or possibly, did not. The very first thing that stands out in Ngannou’s PFL contract, is the freedom to explore other ventures aside from MMA. As the MMA fans have seen over the years, Ngannou has been a big advocate for the UFC letting him box. But, the Dana White-led company denied it unequivocally.
While UFC did offer him $8 million for a Jon Jones fight, ONE Championship increased it to $20 million! However, PFL was the only promotion to offer Ngannou a part of the company. In 2024, PFL Africa is set to kick off and Ngannou will have equity in it. On top of that, Francis will also have a spot on the Global Advisory Board. But perhaps the biggest financial incentive comes in terms of his cut from the events he headlines.

Ngannou is reportedly set to earn 50% of the revenue from any PPV that he headlines. He is expected to have his first MMA fight for PFL in 2024. But before that, Ngannou is reportedly set to make his pro boxing debut in 2023 itself. However, all of Francis’ boxing ventures will take place outside of his PFL contract. So all in all, Ngannou seems happy with the deal.
