CM Punk was previously a part of WWE from 2005 to 2014. However, he has now once again made his comeback to the promotion. Punk walked out during the closing moments of Survivor Series 2023 to a huge ovation from the fans. With that, ‘The Second City Saint’ member graced the ring with his presence on WWE RAW following the event.
During his appearance on RAW, Punk went on to deliver a great promo. He addressed the audience and talked about his blockbuster return. However, he mentioned a certain Wiseman during his promo.
He said, “Once upon a time a Wiseman told me for me to get everything I need out of this place I’ll have to leave and come back. Hate to say, the Wiseman was right. But that’s why I’m back to get everything I need out of this place, I’m back for you because you are home”.
With that, fans have been wondering about the identity of the Wiseman Punk mentioned in his first WWE promo in nine years. It is to be noted that the Wiseman, The Best in the World, talked about is none other than Paul Heyman.
Thus, it seems Paul Heyman previously gave CM Punk a piece of advice that the latter agreed was correct. Now that Punk has mentioned Heyman in his promo, it remains to be seen if the Wiseman will have anything to say about the matter in the upcoming days.
Focusing on CM Punk and Paul Heyman’s time together in WWE
CM Punk recently talked about Paul Heyman on Monday Night RAW. Meanwhile, it is to be noted that the two share a long history together. It all goes back to Punk’s first run with WWE. Previously, during The Best in the World’s first tenure with the Stamford-based promotion, Heyman was seen accompanying him to his matches.
While it happened for a few matches, CM Punk later asked the Wiseman not to accompany him to his matches going forward. Thereafter, The Best in the World was attacked by Brock Lesnar, who was Heyman’s client as well. This resulted in a match between the two at SummerSlam 2013, where Punk lost due to Heyman’s interference.
Moving ahead, the feud between Paul Heyman and CM Punk continued. It ultimately culminated in a two-on-one handicap Hell in a Cell match at the 2013 namesake event. At the PPV event, Punk defeated Heyman and Ryback to win the match. After the match, the Best in the World continued the assault on Heyman to end it once and for all.
Following that, CM Punk left WWE in 2014. However, as of now, he has once again returned to the company. Not only that, he also named Paul Heyman upon his arrival. With that, it remains to be seen what plans the Triple H-led promotion has in store for Punk in the upcoming days. Also, fans will look forward to an on-screen interaction between their favorite superstar and the Wiseman of the Stamford-based promotion.
