The recent WWE-UFC merger did not go well with many WWE stars, including Rick Boogs. No sooner did the merger take place, than multiple superstars lost their positions in the division. While no reason has been cited for making the respective cut, Rick Boogs claims to know what led to his release.

Boogs made his first pro wrestling move in 2017 under the yellow brand of WWE. After facing stars such as Finn Balor and Akira Tozawa, he was finally drafted to SmackDown in 2021. His career went on quite well and he faced multiple top stars in the division. However, at WrestleMania 38, he was injured, putting him on a hiatus.

Rick Boogs made his return in January 2023, but a lot had changed by then. Vince McMahon‘s control over the division had been lost and Boogs claims that this led to his downfall. “I can say with 100% certainty, the removal of Vince killed my career,” he wrote in a comment.

The year failed to give him the opportunities he required to shine among the masses. As a result, he was added to the list of men who had to bid goodbye to the WWE ring. With such a huge potential, fans wait to see if Boogs joins another professional wrestling promotion.

Why was Rick Boogs released from WWE?

Rick Boogs is a man full of enthusiasm. His move to the professional wrestling industry opened the gates to global success. However, before he could achieve the same with full momentum, he was released from WWE. Despite being a future main eventer, what led to him being released?

The HR team of the TKO Group did not reveal the reason for the removal of any of the stars from the division. But Rick Boogs claims to know what compelled the team to make such a move. “Let me tell ya, it’s been an interesting time in my life with my job in WWE being terminated due to a backstage political power play,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Being fully aware of the response that he would get to his remark, he justified that it was his personal opinion on the matter. He did not provide full information on his claim, saying, “Now is not the time to talk about that. I will get into detail about that when the time is right.” Boogs’ comments are sure to invite a lot of hatred among the fans, the authorities, and his fellow superstars. His future goals lie veiled and only time time will reveal what he pursues next.
