WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns is currently enjoying the greatest reign of the modern era. His title run started way back in 2020, and now it’s been over three years since he’s been at the absolute top of the division.
Throughout his historic reign, Roman has faced numerous challengers, but no one has been able to dethrone him. As The Bloodline’s leader has already run through the entire roster, a former WWE Champion has an interesting take on The Tribal Chief’s replacement.
The star is none other than The Modern Day Maharaja Jinder Mahal, as he recently talked about the Universal Champion. This happened during Mahal’s recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, as the former WWE Champion shared his thoughts about the historic title reign of The Tribal Chief.
Jinder Mahal (in an interview w/sportskeeda) says that the one person that can dethrone Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship, is Roman Reigns when he retires.

The one-time WWE Champion said, “I think the only one that can dethrone Roman Reigns is himself when he retires.” Giving the reason behind this statement, Jinder said that Reigns currently has too much momentum and also the guidance of Paul Heyman, which makes it even more difficult to end his historic reign.
Mahal also acknowledged that The Tribal Chief also has the advantage of not having to show up regularly. But even after these comments by The Modern Day Maharaja, it’s a bit obvious that Roman will probably lose his title someday. When will that time come? Only the future knows the answer.
Why has Roman Reigns recently been away from WWE TV?
While Jinder’s views about Roman’s title reign are true, it’s also evident that The Tribal Chief has remained off TV during this run for a significant amount of time. Such has been the case since the August 11 SmackDown episode, as since then Reigns has been absent from WWE.
The Undisputed Champion hasn’t appeared on weekly television for over a month and even missed Payback. Even though the reason behind his absence hasn’t really been shared by the Triple H-led promotion, it’s been revealed that he has been given a vacation by the WWE.

The Tribal Chief’s hiatus is expected to continue for now as he’s expected to make his in-ring return in November. It has been reported that Roman’s next match will be at the Crown Jewel PLE. Thus, Reigns will make his triumphant return on November 4, in Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, the Undisputed Champion was recently advertised for the blue brand’s October 27 episode. This might be a hint that he’ll be on the show for the build-up to the PLE in Saudi Arabia. With Roman Reigns nearing his WWE return, it’ll be interesting to see who he will face after his long-awaited comeback.
