18-time Grand Slam champion and tennis legend Martina Navratilova has always been an advocate for female athletes. She has once again stirred debate with her remarks on transgender and male inclusion in women’s sports. Known for her outspoken views, Navratilova has faced criticism for her stance, often labeled as “transphobic” by her critics.
In her recent statement, Navratilova emphasized the importance of fairness in sports, stating, “You can’t just proclaim yourself a female and be able to compete against women.” She raised concerns about the potential advantage of biological differences, such as male physiology, in athletic competitions.
Women’s sports is not the place for mediocre male athletes who compete as women. Period.

Navratilova again took notice following the victory of Maelle Jacques competing in girls’ athletic events, at a state championship. Jacques is a biologically male athlete who identifies himself as a female and has won in a high jump event.
His jump fell nearly 10 inches below the winning height in the men’s category. His performance, however, contributed to the Kearsarge HS girls’ track & field team earning the runner-up position among 25 competing teams.
And I will keep saying this as nauseum until the rules change- women’s sports are not a place for failed male athletes. https://t.co/KMtdOZuu8V

Navratilova has previously challenged governing bodies, such as the United States Tennis Association (USTA), over their transgender inclusion policies. As discussions on transgender rights continue, Navratilova remains committed to defending the integrity and fairness of women’s sports.
