Over the past few months, it has been challenging for Andy Murray to win matches on the tour. Since his hip surgery a few years ago, he has never been the same on the court. Murray still has the fighting spirit like before but now faces physical barriers in the game. Some fans had suggested Murray retire from the game after his loss against Benoit Paire in Montpellier.
There was a BBC article on the British player not quitting the game due to his pride. Murray was unhappy with the treatment he received for his current form. He responded strongly to the article on X and said, “Tarnishing my legacy? Do me a favour. I’m in a terrible moment right now, I’ll give you that. I won’t quit.” Murray mentioned that he would keep fighting and knew his capability.
Tarnishing my legacy? Do me a favour. I’m in a terrible moment right now I’ll give you that. Most people would quit and give up in my situation right now. But I’m not most people and my mind works differently. I won’t quit. I will keep fighting and working to produce the… https://t.co/nF0var6IfL

Preach! Imagine telling an accomplished iconic adult your opinion on what they should choose for work and when they should do it …. This is such a dumb, thirsty article. Can’t take a legacy away. Accomplishment lives forever

The former world No.1 found support amongst former players in the sport. Andy Roddick stood for Murray and said, “This is such a dumb, thirsty article. Can’t take a legacy away.” Roddick went on to say that Murray’s accomplishments will stand forever. “Whenever Andy decides. Not one match sooner or later,” said Martina Navratilova, as she felt it was Murray’s choice to play.
Whenever Andy decides. Not one match sooner or later. And his legacy will be just fine, don’t you worry about it!

Bro. There are SO many things you could write about and get paid for, this IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

Rennae Stubbs, too, joined in to support Murray for his courage. She said, “Bro. There are SO many things you could write about and get paid for, this IS NOT ONE OF THEM!.” Murray has been playing on tour for over two decades and is currently ranked No. 49. He will look to come back stronger when he will play next in February. So far, he has played in three events this year.
Andy Murray is hoping to secure his first victory of the season in February
The ATP season will be seeing a lot of events take place in February. The clay swing will begin next month as players gather crucial ranking points. Meanwhile, Murray will take a short break after his opening-round loss at the Sud de Open. He will be out for almost three weeks now and will use the time to recover.
The 36-year-old is expected to play at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, beginning on 19th February at Doha. The entry list has Murray’s name. It will be his eighth appearance at the event and had first played in 2007. He has reached the finals five times in Doha and won the event in 2008 and 2009. He lost to Daniil Medvedev in the final last season after saving five matchpoints during the semifinal.
The week at Doha will be crucial in providing a win for Murray. After reaching the final last year, the three-time grand slam champion had re-entered the top 50 in rankings. This time he risks the chance of exiting the top 50 and will have to perform well at Doha to keep his spot safe. There are many reasons for Murray to continue, and he can prove the same when he plays next month.
