SUMMARY
- Vince McMahon had to resign from TKO board after Janel Grant's s*x trafficking allegations against him.
- After his exit from WWE, rumors suggest McMahon could be tempted to open up his own Pro-Wrestling company.
Vince McMahon previously served as the executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings. Meanwhile, a former WWE employee named Janel Grant filed a s*x trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. According to the lawsuit, Vince abused her and s*xually exploited her.
This resulted in Vince McMahon resigning from TKO on January 26, 2024. However, now it seems a rumour about Vince has been making the rounds. There are rumours that McMahon might come up with his own pro wrestling company to challenge WWE.
Recently, Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio stated that following McMahon’s resignation from WWE, he has a one-year non-compete clause with the promotion. However, as reported by Meltzer, it ends in late January 2025.
Vince McMahon could start a new promotion to rival WWE In January 2025
“While my belief is that McMahon is done in wrestling, given he’s 78 years old, from a legal standpoint he does have a one-year non-compete end in late January 2025. He can, at that point, start up a new… pic.twitter.com/dUdrmemO79

With that, Dave said, “He can, at that point, start up a new promotion. Since the word got out, I’ve had discussions and other communications with some of the most prominent people in wrestling regarding the possibility that he gets back into wrestling, something that has been his life since starting to work for his father as a promoter in the late 1960s.”
Finally, Meltzer revealed that, according to him and many others, Vince “is done due to the combination of his age, reputation and lack of openings.” With that, it remains to be seen if the rumours will indeed come true going forward. However, nothing can be said until the expiration of McMahon’s non-compete clause.
Will the idea of Vince McMahon running a new pro wrestling promotion work?
As previously mentoined, there are rumors that Vince McMahon might start up a new promotion to challenge the Stamford-based promotion. However, it seems the idea of McMahon running a new promotion might not work. This is because Vince is currently 78 years old, and creating a new promotion from scratch at this age seems like an unachievable dream.
Also, the majority of the top-class wrestlers are either signed to WWE or AEW. In addition to that, given McMahon’s reputation, many might not be willing to sign a contract with him. Thus, keeping all these points in mind, it can be understood that even if McMahon becomes successful in starting a brand new promotion, it will lack manpower.
Meanwhile, the question of whether the promotion will work or not comes later. First, it remains to be seen if Vince will indeed start a new promotion at the age of 78. Also, it would be interesting to see how his new promotion will be able to challenge top-notch promotions such as WWE and AEW.
Why’s there no way Vince McMahon can return to WWE
If Vince McMahon wants to be attached to the world of professional wrestling on a regular basis, then he might have to start his own promotion. This is because there’s no way he might make his return to the Stamford-based promotion. Firstly, if McMahon makes his return to WWE after all the allegations brought against him, it might prove to be a risk factor for the promotion’s image.
Also, many might be upset with Vince’s return to WWE, which might eventually lead to several superstars and staff members resigning from the company. This will not prove to be beneficial for the promotion. Most importantly, Vince no longer would have the complete control over WWE.
The Stamford-based promotion is now owned by TKO Group Holdings. Thus, just like before, Vince will not be able to return to the company of his own free will. Henceforth, it is evident that McMahon will not be back in WWE by any means. With that, it now remains to be seen what lies ahead for the former executive chairman in the upcoming days.
