SUMMARY
- Tony Khan finally broke silence about the AEW status of MJF.
- This happened during the press conference after the AEW Dynasty PPV.
AEW organized the inaugural edition of its Dynasty pay-per-view at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, and it was a memorable event. From the dream match between Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay to the main event between Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland, Tony Khan delivered through Sunday’s PPV.
Amid the success of the special show, AEW’s CEO interacted with the media in the post-event press conference. While taking questions from the media representatives, Tony was asked about MJF’s absence from the Jacksonville-based promotion, and he addressed the speculations around the pro wrestler’s rumored shift from his company to WWE.
The pro wrestling figure said, “MJF, one of the biggest stars in AEW, we haven’t seen him in recent months, and I would love to get MJF back here soon, sooner than later, really soon. Everything’s going so great for AEW right now, and that would be something that would add a lot.” (Via: X)

People were claiming that Maxwell might be on his way to the Triple H-led promotion. But with his comments, Khan has ruled out the possibility of the pro wrestler’s WWE debut. As AEW’s CEO is looking forward to Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s return, MJF may not join the Triple H-led promotion anytime soon.
Fans react to Tony Khan’s statement about MJF’s AEW status
As soon as Tony Khan‘s statement about MJF’s contract status went viral on the internet, pro wrestling fans started sharing their reactions to it. Sharing how this was pretty much expected, someone from the audience wrote, “To the shock of no one, MJF is resigned by AEW.” (Via: X)
Pointing out how this probably ends all the ongoing speculation among the AEW fans, a member of the wrestling community said, “Hopefully this ends any question about MJF status in AEW.” “If they lose MJF they are done,” another fan commented, amid the uncertainty some people still feel about Jacob’s contract.
Why has MJF been absent from All Elite Wrestling?
Following Tony Khan’s comments after Sunday’s Dynasty PPV, fans have different opinions about the AEW return of MJF. But some of the fans are also asking why Maxwell has been absent from All Elite Wrestling, as they aren’t really aware of why he hasn’t been active in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
It must be noted that Friedman has been away from the Tony Khan-led promotion because he is dealing with a shoulder injury. The former World Champion was last seen at the company’s World Ends PPV on December 30, 2023, where he lost his title to Samoa Joe. This defeat was also the end of his 406-day run with the championship, and he hasn’t been seen in the organization ever since then.
After this event, MJF’s contract with the promotion has been filled with a lot of uncertainty. A lot of people claimed that he had left the Tony Khan-led promotion and was on his way to WWE. But the comments by All Elite Wrestling’s CEO after the Dynasty PPV have made fans believe that he’s probably going to make a grand return to AEW in the near future.
