Former UFC megastar Nate Diaz is now a wanted man in New Orleans. The 38-year-old Stockton native has recently made headlines that aren’t surrounding his in-cage outings. Diaz, who fought out his UFC contract not too long ago, is now on the radar of the NOPD (New Orleans Police Department).
A few days ago, fans witnessed Nate sitting ringside at Misfits Boxing 6 in support of his teammate, Chris Avila. Soon after, he incited a brawl by throwing a water bottle at reality TV star Chris DeMoor. Following this, the security officials showed Diaz the door, however, this didn’t stop the 38-year-old to create more ruckus.

A few hours later, passersby saw Diaz involved in a huge scuffle on the famed Bourbon Street. The Stockton native can be seen with his hands up against the viral doppelganger Rodney Peterson. The famous Logan Paul look-alike can be seen telling Nate he didn’t want to engage. However, Nate put him in a headlock anyway, choking Rodney unconscious before he fell to the ground.
Rodney took to social media to show a large gash he had received at the back of his head as a result. He said, “I don’t know what the hell I did to Nate Diaz. But I’m telling you what, I’m gonna knock him the f**k out when I know he’s coming. You caught me off guard, dude. What did you think I was, Logan?”
Nate Diaz charged with second-degree battery
In wake of the infamous brawl, the NOPD has issued an arrest warrant for Nate’s apprehension on a charge of second-degree battery. Karen A. Bourdie, an NOPD spokesperson confirmed the charge to MMA Fighting on Monday night. However, she could not provide any further details on the warrant.
The NOPD gathered and thoroughly checked all the clips regarding the viral scuffle before making this decision. “After investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Nate Diaz. He has been charged with second-degree battery,” Bourdie said. “he is not in custody.”
Nate’s representative hasn’t made any comments about the recent news of his arrest. According to TMZ Sports, the UFC legend‘s entourage believes the athlete acted in self-defense, during the 2:10 am brawl on Saturday morning. They added that Nate was trying to play the role of a peacemaker in breaking up a larger fight that allegedly began inside a pub.
If Diaz is found guilty, he could face up to 8 years in jail and/or a $2,000 fine, which is the penalty for second-degree battery in the state of Louisiana.

Diaz is scheduled to make his boxing debut against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, brother of Logan Paul. The big-money fight will take place at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas. However, fans are concerned whether the arrest warrant might lead to a delay in the highly anticipated match scheduled for August 5.
