Jey Uso has evolved tremendously in the past few months. From working under The Tribal Chief, to being the main eventer, his journey this year has been incredible. However, a major obstacle came his way with regards to his “Yeet” catchphrase.
Jey Uso was betrayed by his real-life twin, Jimmy Uso, at SummerSlam, during his match against Roman Reigns. After this, Jey Uso was drafted to the blue brand of the company. There, he aligned himself with Cody Rhodes and the two formed a tag team. Soon, they adopted the catchphrase “Yeet“ leaving the audience in a frenzy.

However, over the past few days, a trademark issue arose with the same. Jey had to hold himself back from using the word. On the other hand, the WWE also had to blur out the word from his merchandise and crowd from the clips of the show. After much worry among the fans, the catchphrase is now back.

Jey had been very hopeful to get his iconic catchphrase back and it for sure is. He dropped an Instagram story and confirmed the news. Sharing a picture of himself in his “Yeet” shirt, he announced that “Yeet” was back. With this, the fans are all elated as they can see Jey Uso ‘Yeeting’ his way in and outside the ring in the upcoming shows.
What was the trademark issue with Jey Uso’s ‘Yeet’?
Major concern arose among the audience when WWE blurred out the word ‘Yeet’ from Jey Uso’s shirt in his video clips. Fans then realised that the WWE star was not allowed to use the word both on and off the screen. Digging deep into the legal matter, it was found out that WWE did not file a trademark for the catchphrase.
With this being said, an independent wrestler was using the term during his in-ring appearances. Named Kasey Huffman, the star had the phrase trademarked to his name in 2021. This left the fans almost convinced that the WWE Universe would soon lose a great phrase forever. However, it was found out that since October 2022, his application for the trademark was suspended. This eventually made the case fall in WWE’s favor.
Kasey Huffman, a pro-wrestler out of West Virginia, has owned the trademark to the word “Yeet” since 2021.

As was revealed last night that WWE found trademark issues with Jey Uso’s “Yeet” & the word & merchandising will no longer be associated with him going forward. pic.twitter.com/cMDdG4zRpN
As per Fightful, “Huffman’s trademark application for “Yeet” is now listed as “DEAD APPLICATION Refused Dismissed or Invalidated.”” This update has been a great one for the WWE Universe and Jey Uso, in particular. With no more censoring on the word, it would make Yeet all the more special for the fans of Jey Uso’s upcoming appearances.
